December 17

1940: "Christmas greetings are already beginning to arrive.  A beautiful bedroom suite arrives for Dad and Mother from Sitter's Furniture Store.  This is our joint Christmas present." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1944: "To St. John's 7:30 Mass, then to work, and it's like a mad house at the store.  We attend the "Golden Wedding Anniversary" of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Mueller at the Athearn Hotel.  Altho it is really a preliminary, it is a lovely event.  It is a dinner for the immediate family with Rev. C.J. Lange and Mrs., John Hackbarth, Thres and myself.  Also took a trip to Sunnyview to see Tony Pable.  He is doing fine but can not be home for Christmas." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
