01.  Wednesday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche. 
Com.  Happy Hour of Death
02.  Tuesday: Today is the Holy Father’s birthday, and incidentally it is 11 years since he was elected to the papacy.  He chose the name Paul Pius XII.  He is 74.  We attend 645 Mass.  Father Bousche.  Took Martha Hein Stauber home, she is our regular passenger after mass.  Monsignor Reul is in to see me this afternoon.  We have a pleasant visit.

04.  Saturday: Knights of Columbus attend 6.45 Mass, St. Vincents, in a body.  Two holy Masses this morning Fathers Wagner and Bouche.

Sat, Mar 4.  (Written on March 8 page)  Aunt Mary has a spell this afternoon.  Had Doctor Ray Wagner in to see her.  Can’t find anything radically wrong with her.
05.  Sunday: To 730 Mass, Monsignor Bastian.  Then to work.  Took Mother – Mary Ann – Donald – Arlene to the Town Grill for a sumptuous dinner in honor of Mary Ann on her approaching birthday.  Worked quite late at the store.  Thres and Mary Ann to the Oshkosh to see “Dear Wife” They say its a scream.  Harry – Agnes Kujawa are here this afternoon.  Annie Heip is here also to take care of Aunt Mary.

06.  Monday: Had to call in Doctor Wagner again today.  Aunt Mary is not improving, seems to be getting worse.
07.  Tuesday: Doctor Wagner is here to see Aunt Mary this afternoon and advises she be taken to the hospital.  She is taken to Mercy at 5 P.M.  The officers in the ambulance kidded her quite a bit, telling her she could come home tomorrow if she dont like the eats at the hospital.  This is also Mary Ann’s birthday, but not a pleasant one.  She passed out of her teens.  A little lady at 20.  Donald – Arlene – and Debbie are here for birthday visit.  Thres is at the “Elks Jollies of 1950” with Joe – Annie – Rose Weisheipl at the old Opera House, now the Civic Theatre.  I attended Perpetual Help Devotion and Stations of the Cross, then with Francis Lamb until 10 P.M. then to work with our crew at the store until midnight.  To bed by 130 A.M.  Had a call from Victoria Charles.  She dreamed about Margaret Radomski
08.  Wednesday: We are still busy getting ready for the big opening tomorrow.
09.  Thursday: Well, it's here, the day of our Grand Opening, a beautiful day, lots of flowers, plenty of help, Norm Brown, Florian Peck, Ken Sepersky, Bob Fisher. Art and Mrs. Look, Ed and Mrs. Worm from Fond du lac are over. Took Norm and Sybelle to Town Grill for dinner.
10.  Friday: The folks at the store are in good shape except Annie Heip, he has a dark brown taste.  Over to see Aunt Mary this afternoon.  She does not show much improvement.  Met Albert Holzbauer, he tells me he is to be operated in the morning for a spine injury
11.  Saturday: Had a surprize visitor this morning, Walter Jennerjahn is in to see me.  Francis Lamb is in for additional information on income tax.  Art Mueller gets his reaction from the opening today.  He feels quite tired.  Visited Aunt Mary tonite, also Albert Holzbauer, he had as operation this morning, Dr. Joe Kronzer
12.  Sunday: To 800 Oclock Mass St. Josaphats All City Holy Name Father Alphonse Wagner.  Thres two St. Mary’s took Annie Heip with us.  Day of Recollection for Council Cath Women.  Took the folks back this afternoon to St. Mary’s.  Visited Aunt Mary, Al Holzbauer– Leo Wolf.  Back to work at 430 until 1030.  Worked 10 hours today.  Com.

13.  Monday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  Temperature 1° above zero.  Eddie Lange –Bob Kniss’ boss is in with Bob this afternoon to look over the new store.  Thru with work at 1030 11 ½ hours today.

14.  Tuesday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  Took Martha Hein home after church.  Another lovely day.  Had Harvey Lohst for guest at Kiwanis, Dr. Pfefferkorn – Si Horwitz – Ozz Witte –Leight Hough and myself at table.  Emma Siewert with Thres to visit Aunt Mary.  Emma stays with us overnite.  Tw Perpetual Help Devotion and Stations and back to work.  Home at 1030 10 hours today.  Debbie is put on cereal diet today, and does she like it, she sure does.

15.  Wednesday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  This is Matt Mertz’s birthday, he is 83.  Thres and Annie Heip are over to see Aunt Mary.  Mary Wodsedalek is removed to her home.  Her husband Forrest is manager of the Indians Trail Apts.  Donald – Arlene and Debby spend the evening with us.  Debby sleeps most of the time.  I took the evening off the first in a long time.  Worked 9 hours today.  Art Mueller is laid up with the flu since noon.

16.  Thursday: More snow this morning, Thres and self to Mass.  Mary Ann stays home, suffering from a cold.  I almost attended South Side Business Mens Meeting in the newly decorated St. Vincents Gymnasium.  Found I had too much work at the store.  Worked 13 hours today.  Mary (Mrs. Fred) Schneider is 70 today.  Mary Steckbauer, widow of Herman is 81.

17.  Friday: To Mass – Father Bouche.

18.  Saturday: 12° above this morning, looks like a lovely day coming up.  To 645 Mass – Father Bouche.  Tried to complete some work in the new basement.  Did not get very far.  This afternoon took Thres to hospital.  Another bandage job today for Thres.  Her leg looks much improved.  This evening to Oshkosh Theatre to see “The Challenge of Lassie” with Edmond Gwenn – Donald Crisp –Geraldine Brooks – Lassie, also Leo Gorcey and Bowery Boys in “Blonde Dynamite.”

19.  Sunday: To 730 Hi Mass Monsignor Bastian.  Lady Foresters Easter Duty, about 50 Seniors, 30 Juniors.  Father Alphonse Wagner reads “Marriage Regulations.” Took Thres and Mary Ann to see Aunt Mary while I worked.  She had many visitors today.  I worked in the meantime.  After supper took a drive to Berlin, to see Harry Kujawa family.  Charlie Ress is 60 today.  Ed Ledvina has a birthday.

20.  Monday: To 645 Mass.  Father Bouche.  Worked in the store basement most of the day.  Had luncheon at the Town Grill with Norm Brown and Ken Siperski.  Norm pays the bill.  This afternoon over to see Aunt Mary –Mrs. OConnor – Jennie Pable.  Took Torry Pable and Mary Meidl home from hospital.  Mrs. Albina Schneider passed away at Henry Troxell’s.  Born Nov. 12 – 1864.

21.  Tuesday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  To Kiwanis luncheon.  Ken Strong – O.R. Jones –Si Horwitz and me at table.  Fred Leist and pupils present program of music and singing.  Took Annie Weisheipl –Alvina Putzer – Thres to see Aunt Mary.

22.  Wednesday: To 6.45 Mass Father Bouche.  Snow flurries are prevalent these days.  Thres and self paid last respects to Albina Schneider at Sitters.  Donald and Arlene visit Aunt Mary tonight, they leave the baby with us.

23.  Thursday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  Dental appointment Dr. Norman Kleinschmit at 9 A.M. the first since November 1947.  Oh build one only.  Then to work.  This afternoon took Thres – Emma Siewert along to see Aunt Mary.  I visited Mrs. OConnor and met Sister Kunigunda.  Had a short visit with Sister Emmelia and the longer one with Sister Laurentia.  She tells me about Father Fittkau, who spent nine months in Siberia as a prisoner.  From the hospital we go to Fiss and Bills to view the remains of Henry Michels.  Back to work, this evening served as honor guard 4th Degree K of C at St. Peters, Auxiliary Bishop Grellinger gave the sermon.  Mary Ann spends the day at Drexlers.  Thres and Emma teach me how to play Canasta until 12.45.

24.  Friday: Did not get to Mass this morning.  Worked most of the day.  Mary Ann to hospital with the Heips.  I paid last respects to Salina Mauel at Marquarts.  Anna her sister says she will not be lonesome, I think she will be.  Harold Mueller is in about help.

25.  Saturday: To 645 Mass.  Father Bouche.  Sunshine this morning, and its very welcome.  During the last nine days we have had snow and rain in seven of them.

26.  Sunday: To 730 Mass St. Johns.  K.C. Easter Communion and breakfast.  Mager McMurray at one time Father McMurray (Episcopal) a convert was our speaker.  His was an interesting story.  His family also dad and mother are all converts.  To work part of the morning.  This afternoon to see Aunt Mary – Mrs. OConnor – Leo Wolf.  Met Joe and Mrs. Kitz.  Back to work at 4 P.M.  Had 21 phone calls from 4 to 6.  Worked until 10.45.  Put in 8 hours today.

28.  Tuesday: To 645 Mass.  Father Bouche.  We have rain and snow most of the day.  Bill Stumpf is in town.  To Kiwanis luncheon Mrs. Linley from Berlin is our speaker.  Eric Baller – Geo. Harrington – Henry Zentner and myself at table.  Took Thres to hospital.  This evening to Perpetual Help Devotion and Stations.

29.  Wednesday: To 645 Mass Father Wagner.  To work for short while –Father Wagner takes us to Milwaukee, stopped at Mutual, had luncheon at Raatzch Rest.  Then to McClurg’s, then to Broadway Church Goods, then Abbott Company, and Photo Art on Jefferson, back to Mutual and we are ready for the homestretch.  Took 55 hiway going, its very bad, 41 on the way back much better.  Father Wagner stayed for the evening meal, left at 9 Oclock, I went to work until 10.30.

30.  Thursday: To 645 Mass Father Bouche.  Took Thres to see Aunt Mary this afternoon.  I dropped in to see Mrs. OConnor.  The patient with Mary works at Shorty’s Restaurant on N.  Villard, I think its 3411.  She leaves the hospital tomorrow.

31.  Friday: To 645 Mass with Mary Ann Fathers Wagner and Bouche.  Thres to 8 Oclock Mass with Altar Society.  This is another day of rain.  Thres gets a hair do this afternoon 230
