01. Sunday: To 730 Mass then to
work. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Milbauer are in
to get some information in regard to Robert Voelz and also about forming a
corporation. Took a drive to the
cemetery all by myself, met John Hable there.
This evening took Ed and Thres Fretschl to the Strand “On an Island with
You” stars Esther Williams – Peter Lawford – Ricardo Montalban – Jimmy Durante –
and Xavier Cugat also “The Inside Story” with Marcia Hunt – Will Lundigan–
Charles Winninger, then To “Tads” Tavern and we get company. Margaret Radomski is here with Gail from
Milwaukee.
02. Monday: Norm Brown is here early this morning. Aunt Mary would like to come home, but she
must stay awhile longer at Annie Heip’s.
03. Tuesday: To Kiwanis luncheon. Our table Bob Bork – Charles Clemans – Ethan Pfefferkorn
– Harold Watson – Alton Dunham –Jim Bruins and myself. Bob Kriz showed color pictures of the
centennial parade. I sleep on the couch
these days, Mary Ann with mother. Her room is not ready yet.
04. Wednesday: We are invited out to have dinner
with the Kujawas at the Hotel Whiting – Berlin.
Margaret and Gail Radomsky are there also the guests of Agnes and Harry. Little Gail makes quite an impression, even
with Mr. Whiting. Also visited at Harry’s
back home at 12.30.
05. Thursday: [T] Donald takes my place on the
couch tonight. Mary Ann spends our first
night in her new bedroom upstairs.
06. Friday: To 530 Mass. Father Wagner offers. Left for Milwaukee with Mary Ann – Jeanette
Schmidt – Cleo White – Virginia Abrams.
They take a Cara Nome course from Miss Enright at the Schroeder Hotel. Al Leonard – Ken Siperski – _____ La Deau are
there. Mary Ann and myself have our noon
meal at Mader’s Restaurant. Mary Ann
says this is her first at Mader’s. Tried
to visit Stan Demboviak at 1571 –So. 70th St. –West Allis.
No one home. On our way home hit
the open car door of Sylvester Spang -721 South Roosevelt Rd. Green Bay Wis. This happened on East Johnson St. Fond du Lac. He came out of his car suddenly and I could
not clear his car door. My fender is
dented in. On arrival home back to work
until 10 P.M.

07. Saturday: Bill Mauritz once to fish today, so
I take Ann –Joe Baier and Joe week to the cottage. Joe Baier had all the luck, he caught some
nice sized perch, I caught minnows.
Robert Fretschl (12th St.) is out to fix our electric kitchen stove, at
the cottage.
08. Sunday: This is dress and myself wedding
anniversary. We were married at St.
Vincents Church by Father Adolph Wibbert August – 8-1911. Our family has a fine dinner served at the
Power Boat Club. Met Mike Malauf, the
new manager. He is a brother of Ed
Malauf, who married Anna Smith years ago when I worked for Julius Martin. Raymond Ostertag – Billy Mauritz –Al Spiering
– Dave Guenther – Billy Poeschl row out to the cottage to spend a few days.
09. Monday: Workmen at the Wisconsin Axle Company
are back to work after a three weeks strike layoff.

11. The Fretschl’s
and the Heips are out to see us and celebrate our wedding anniversary. My
mother was born Aug. 11, 1860.
12. Thursday: The Sisters of St. Vincents have
their annual picnic at our cottage and I’m sure they enjoyed it. Thres made some special rye bread and apple
pies for them and I treated with candy and many small prizes for their Bingo
game. This is Bob Genals birthday.
13. Friday: Roger Kempinger is laid to rest this
morning.
14. Saturday: Took Thres and Mary Ann to the
Oshkosh, to see Red Skelton as the Fuller Brush Man with Janet Blair. Its a riot.

16. Monday: Charles Severind 746 – 7th passed away
this afternoon at Winnebago. Born Dec. 9
– 1885. He was a Mason contractor, build
the fireplace and our cottage. This is
the day of the Annual Rotary – Kiwanis Picnic at Winnebago State Hospital
Picnic Grounds. Rotary wins the baseball
game 10-9, the first in four years.
17. Tuesday: Babe Ruth famous “Home Run King”
passed away last night at Memorial Hospital in New York. John Orlebeke one of
the four organizers of the Oshkosh Corrugated Paper Box Company died last night
at Wisconsin General Hospital – Madison.
Born at Oostburg Wisconsin April 5-1873.
18. Wednesday: I
drive to Mt. Calvary this afternoon to attend the Alumni Reunion of St.
Lawrence. Met Ed Bonney, Frank Ascherl - Madison, Will Renner - Alexandria,
John Duginski - Chicago, Stan Wachowiak - Chicago, Rev. Michael Prock, Pete
(Coffee Pete) Hildebrand, Frank Heiman. After the evening entertainment I drive
back home to the cottage. Frank Ruland, proprietor of the Palmyra Creamery
passed away suddenly this afternoon at his home 912 Rugby. Born March 20- 1880.
19. Thursday: Back
to Mt. Calvary this morning for the Solemn Hi Mass. Met Dr. Leo Hoffman -
Campbellsport, Rev. Leo Sharp -Chicago, Rev. Luke Leuterman - Phlox, Rev. Jos.
Ahearn - Menasha, Rev. John Murphy - Oshkosh. Business meeting this afternoon.
Back at 600 at the cottage. Then out to Nelson's farm to the
South Side Business Mens Corn Roast at

21. Saturday: Had some surprise visitors this
morning. Caroline and Viola Drexler from
Spokane Washington. I tried to get my den
in order this afternoon. This evening to
the Strand to see Irving Berlin’s “Easter Parade” starring Fred Astaire – Judy Garland
– Peter Lawford –Anne Miller, also “Soap Box Derby” in Color. Dolores Lefky is married to Donald Esler at
Greenleaf at St. Mary’s Church by Father John Haen.
22. Sunday: To 730 Mass. Father Ott.
After Mass brought in Aunt Mary from Weisheipls Picked up Mary Meidl on the way, took her to
church. Aunt Mary has been at Weisheipls
for 5 weeks. This afternoon we visit
Riverside and Sacred Heart Cemeteries.
Took Aunt Mary with us.
23. Monday: [T] Pretty hot day, temperature is 95°. We are back at the cottage tonight. It is very pleasant out so we stay outside
until 1 A.M.
24. Tuesday: Attended Kiwanis luncheon Nelson Covey,
a reformed ex convict, who had been behind the bars 3 times spoke on juvenile
delinquency caused mainly as he puts it by unloved children. Our table George Savage –Zola Miller –Howard
Godshall and myself. Official
temperature up to 101° today. Thats a
Sizzler. Sit out until one A.M. tonite. Henry Hagene passed away at Mercy last night

1870. His wife died Feb. 5 this year,
his Brother Julius in March and his daughter Marg Sheets May 26th. Edgar Knoop passed away suddenly this morning
at his home 735 -14th. Born
March 16 – 1900. Traffic Manager at
Fosters. Bro to Armin Knoop.
25. Wednesday: Took Ed and Thres Fretschl along to
the cottage. After supper Joe and Annie
Heip and Aunt Mary come out. The folks
spend a happy evening, in fact it lasts until 230 in the
morning. Aunt Mary will have to come
home before long, so that Joe Heip can use his bed again.
26. Thursday: [T] View the remains of Edgar Knoop
at Konrads funeral home.

28. Saturday: Thres – Mary Ann and myself attend
church service at 7 AM St. Vincents. We
have a busy day at the store. This
evening Thres – Mary Ann and myself attend Strand Theatre. “Coroner’s Creek starring Randolph Scott in Color,
also “Open Secret.” John Andrashko and Lois Serwas are married at Sacred Heart
Church. Lois’ parents Mr. Mrs. Edwin
Serwas John’s mother Rose Andrashko.
Donald also at the Strand, he comes home at 115 A.M.

Brought Aunt Mary home this afternoon from the Weisheipl’s. They are invited to Eddie’s place to
celebrate Bobbie’s birthday. He is one
year of age. Visited a short time on at
Ray Ostertags and Bill Mauritz. Mary Ann
stays over to Mauritz’s with Joan. Norm
and Sybelle Brown celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary. Donald home 12.45 A.M.

31. Tuesday: Dr. William Wagner is elected
Treasurer of the Oshkosh Building and Loan Association. Born at Mosel Wis. Mar. 14 – 1894. Graduated Marquette Medical 1923 served
internship at St. Marys hospital. He
succeeds Ralph Thiessen who passed away Aug. 10th. “Good luck Bill.” Mary Ann and the girls
attend the County Fair.
