02. Sunday: This is a gala
day for Mary Ann. She graduated from St. Vincents. Monsignor Bastian presents
the diplomas at 9 O'clock Mass. We all attend. The afternoon is spent taking
pictures and entertaining company. At 5 O'clock dinner Aunt Lena -
Annie Weisheipl - Thres Fretchl - Rose Mauritz and Joan are present. The
folks see the entertainment at St. Vincents tonite. Thres and I attend the
graduation exercises at Mercy School of Nursing. Virginia Mueller graduates.
Father Head addresses the graduates. After that we all meet at our house for cards.
Took the ladies home at 130 A.M. Com.

04. Tuesday: Today is Mary Ann’s last school day
at St. Vincents. Norm Brown is here today, he confesses to having an elegant
time with Cork and Joe Weisheipl at Club 41 last night. Jane Mueller’s husband Ralph Henry Ebel has a
birthday. Born June 4 – 1922.

06. Thursday: Ralph Rhyner formally with United
Rexall Drug Co. stops at the store for a visit.
I take him to lunch at the Athearn.
07. Friday: Picked up Carl – Gail – Margaret
Radomski 130 P.M. Northwestern Depot. Frank Keefe, Congressman also arrives home. The folks are with us for the afternoon. This evening I took them to Berlin. Harry and Agnes are gone to the farm when we
get there. They arrive home 1015. Carl and I had some Sunnybrook – stimulant in
the meantime. I left for home 1030
home at 1100. Called
Berlin and reported safe trip home.
Thres and myself to St. Vincents 7 Oclock. Com Donald – Mary Ann
08. Saturday: A lovely day. Donald takes Ed Fretchl to cottage to spray
trees. This evening took Aunt Lena –Thres
Fretchl to hear Monsignor Fulton Sheen at South Park Gym. A capacity audience was there to hear him
speak about Russia – Communism and with the world needs mostly today and that
is to go back to God. He also made a
plea of the starving people of Europe.
Rose Weisheipl takes a day off.
09. Sunday: To 730 Mass St. Vincents Holy Name. Father Schneider conducts the Service. Worked rest of the morning. Had meeting of the Mueller heirs at the house,
Harold – Norbert – Art and Loretta. Also
stopped at Charles Heinzl’s with present were Mr. – Mrs. Milton Sprague. Then on to our cottage where the Kujawas and
Radomskis are visiting. It is rather
cool, but the folks enjoyed themselves in spite of the weather. Com. Deceased Members of Holy Name Society
10. Monday: The Mueller heirs move their
belongings from the home. I had a
pleasant visit with Sister Romana this evening.
She has been in Oshkosh 43 years.
Thres and I also attended the presentation of the charter to our Boy
Scout Troop 18. We are back as a troop
and hope the boys will make good. We
have rain most of the day and also much lightning and thunder.
11. Tuesday: To Kiwanis luncheon, took Harry Ferry
as guest. Florence De Spirito from the
Green Bay O.P.A. office is the speaker and a very able one.
12. Wednesday: Ed Fretschl takes a day off today. He and Thres take a train to Milwaukee to
visit their daughter Elsie (Sister Linus) at St. Michaels Congregation.
13. Thursday: Al Leonard regional director of
United Drug Co. is in town. L used to
call on us 15 years ago for United Drug.
We have a luncheon with Harry Ferry at Stein’s. This is quite a treat for Al. I get a fathers day present today, a nice
studio couch, value 7950.
We put it on our porch, makes a nice addition to our porch furniture.

15. Saturday: We have a busy day at the Mueller
home, selling out to the nature and all other household goods. We sell everything with the exception of a
very minor items. I’m very tired when it’s
all over. We buy a brass bed for the
cottage. Donald gets quite a kick
driving Harold Mueller’s new truck. The
Oshkosh Giants beat Green Bay tonight in the ninth inning 5-4. At the beginning of the ninth Green Bay was
leading 4-3.
16. Sunday: [T] To 730 St. Johns, then to work. We are very busy today. Bob Zemke was Donald’s overnight guest and
also our dinner guest. I get a few shirts
and tie for Father’s day presents. This
evening took Aunt Annie Heip – Aunt Lena –Thres –Mary Ann to the Strand to see “Tomorrow
is Forever” starring Claudette Colbert –Orson Welles –George Brent and “Riverboat
Rhythm” with Leon Errol – Frankie Carl and his Orchestra. Com. Special Intention

18. Tuesday: Took Norm Brown to Kiwanis luncheon. Father Julian Francis is our speaker. “Gentleman do Laugh” says he and he surely
proves it.
19. Wednesday: [T] Took a drive to the cottage
about 430. Set up 3
beds. Back at 700. After supper took Thres – Mary Ann to the
Oshkosh to see “Shock” starring (Kent) Vincent Price –Lynn Bari, also “Glass
Alibi” with Anne Gwynne – Douglas Fowley – Paul Kelly. Joe Louis knocks out Billy Conn in the eighth
round of a scheduled 15 round bout at the Yankee Stadium. About 60,000 people paid 2 million dollars to
see the fight.
20. Thursday: [RW 2 mi] Another cool day
temperature about 54°. This evening we
visit Fretchl’s Thres’ hand is looking worse again she has a slight infection
in it. The Weisheipls are still waiting
for their car. It is in the garage five
weeks as of today.
21. Friday: [RW 2 M] Monsignor Bastian is in to
see me at the store today with a sincere thank you.
22. Saturday: Summer began last evening and the
weather is very warm, in fact some folks would call is hot.
23. Sunday: To 730 Mass St.
Vincents, a high mass with procession to celebrate the Feast of Corpus
Christi. Lady Foresters to Holy
Communion in a body. Thres and Mary Ann
attend. Worked from 930
to 1230. To the
cottage the latter part of the afternoon to do some cleaning preparatory to moving
out. Thres beat me four games of
cribbage tonite. Com. St. Anthony
24. Monday: Thres moves out to the cottage this
afternoon, getting ready for Mueller Potter meeting. Wilbert Mueller comes out with me to do some
plumbing repair. Esther – Margaret
Mueller – Loretta Baumgartner getting early start to come out, get stuck on the
way. Esther’s car balked. Art Mueller took them to the cottage. Emma Baier came with Joe and Fred Baumgartner,
Norbert with Art. At our meeting Fred
Baumgartner is elected President, Norbert Mueller is elected Vice President. After the meeting, social hour folks left for
home 130 A.M. Mrs.
Mary Stumwoll passed away this afternoon 230 St. Marys Home. Born in Bavaria July 18 – 1865.
25. Tuesday: [T] Took Larry Gerdes and Ralph
Sperry to Kiwanis luncheon as guests.
Took Dave Collin who is home from Rochester to his first meeting in some
time. Mr. H. MacMillian public relations
officer, 4 Wheel Drive Clintonville sent Mr. U.C. Remmel to speak on “Industrial
Relations – Some Predictions.” This evening 3 deliveries for me after work, one
to 721 – 17th – 1030 – 6th – 48 Oakland Ave. Mrs. Stormy Stumvoll could’nt start her car
near our store. Got her started after a
push out 10th Street, near 11 P.M. when I get to the cottage Buss
Baumgartner stays with Donald overnight.
26. Wednesday: [T] A busy
day for me, Did not get away to the cottage until after 5 P.M. Took Aunt Lena
along. Stopped to view the remains of Mrs. Stumvoll at Poklasny's. She looks
lovely. At the cottage did some fishing with Donald and Lawrence
Kinateder, no luck. Donald and Mary Ann take Aunt Mary to see Mrs. Stumvoll

27. Thursday: Eagles
Convention opens here tonite. Donald
caught a good sized black bass today and is he happy. The first one he’s caught near our cottage.

29. Saturday:
Temperature average for the last 7 days is close to 88°. This is summer.
30. Sunday: To 730
Hi Mass St. Vincents then to work. It is
still quite warm. The Eagle’s Parade
this afternoon is a complete washout. It
not only rained after the program started from 13th and Oregon
Streets but it really poured, and the bands – drill teams – marchers and most
of the spectators were thoroughly drenched.
Stopped to see Bill Siewert tonite after nine. He is doing well. Harry – Agnes – Johnny Kujawa stop a few
minutes. Mary was in the parade. Com. End of Perpetual Help Novena.
