01.  Sunday: To 730 Hi Mass Saint Vincents then to work until 1230 also work tonite, put in 6 ½ hours.  Rose Weisheipl worked today.

02.  Monday: This is Anna Weisheipl’s birthday.  She is 64.  I called her on the phone at 715 this morning and congratulated her, so did Thres – Mary Ann and Donald.  Rose Weisheipl has a day off today, to do some Christmas shopping.  Thres is at Christian Mothers society meeting tonite.  It is guest night with about 200 ladies present.
03. Tuesday: Almost forgot to go to Kiwanis luncheon, will I was late as usual.  Ed Olsen –Lawrence Buck – Frank Uder –Norton Williams of Neenah Club and myself make up a table.  Fire Chief Leo Girens speaks to us how his department operates.  Visited Father Bastian this evening.  Attended to Bazaar collection.

04.  Out to the Weisheipls tonite Annie celebrates her birthday.  Thres – Ed Fretchel –Aunt Lena are there also.  Cards was the diversion.
05.  Thursday: To Milwaukee this morning with Norbert and Esther Mueller.  Norbert drives his new car.  Stopped at Mutual – Yahr Lange – McKesson –Milwaukee Drug Company.  Matt Lauer – Jerry Savage outdid themselves for us, also had good luck at Mutual.  Back home by 7 Oclock – Thres goes to Foresters Christmas party with Mary Ann.
06.  Friday: Our local tax rate has been set by the council, it will be 3.76.  Fire destroyed three business places in Capitol square Madison, early this morning, after 3 Oclock.  It started in the Heidelberg Hofbrau café and also destroyed the Hub Clothing Store Anna Rennebohm Drug Store.
07.  Saturday: [T] Well many folks are feeling a load off their minds and it looks like we are going to have a nice Christmas and why?  Because John L. Lewis called off the coal strike and 400 000 miners will be back to work Monday.  Took the Weisheipl’s to the Oshkosh to see “Holiday in Mexico” in technicolor.  Walter Pidgeon – Jose Iturbi – Roddy McDowall –Jane Powell –Ilona Massey – Xavier Cugat.  “The Truth about Murder” stars Bonita Granville – Morgan Conway.
08.  Sunday: To 730 Mass with Holy Name Society St. Vincents, then to work.  Temperatures up to 62° today.

10.  Tuesday: Thres gets a new kind of hair do, it's a cold permanent wave and its only 12 dollars, “poor papa.” Merchandise is coming in galore.
11.   Wednesday: More and more merchandise comes in, keeps me on edge, to disburse it.  Tonite we have company.  Thres and Annie Heip were shopping this afternoon and cooked up a card party with the usual.  Aunt Lena – Thres Fretchel Joe and Annie Heip.  They leave at 145 A.M.

13.  Friday: Several big loads of merchandise come in today and I’m kept busy checking.
14.  Saturday: I’m still working in the basement, disbursing merchandise to the stores.  Geo. Suess passed away tonight at 9.45 at his home 1133 -10th Street.  Born in Oshkosh April 23 – 1865.  George has been sick for a long time.
15.  Sunday: To 730 Hi Mass, then to work took Mary Ann and Donald along.  We are very busy.  Parcels are beginning to pile up at our Postal Station.  Worked 7 ½ hours today.  Thres attends Christian Mothers Christmas party, and leads some Communities singing with Aunt Lena Baier and Thres Fretchel.  Had company about 11 PM.  “Fuzzy” Kinateder comes in for a meal, and milk.  Stays a half hour.  What, you don’t know “Fuzzy” Well he’s been neighbors tomcat.

18.  Wednesday: Harry and Mrs. Lyman are taken to Winnebago State Hospital tonite.  Geo. Suess is laid to rest this morning.  Father Hubert Nillis officiates at the Poklasny funeral home.

21.  Saturday: Another very busy day, but I’m keeping up well, put in 72 hours this week from Monday until tonite.
22.  Sunday: To 730 Mass then to work put in 8 ½ hours today.  Worked this afternoon wrapping packages for the Doctors.

24.  Tuesday: Well this is the windup.  Took Donald along to deliver packages to the doctors and calendars to the Dentists, also the Sisters and Fathers, all in all its in exceptionally busy day.  The help at the store also gets presents.
25.  Wednesday: To 730 Mass St. Vincents.  This is the first time we missed midnight Mass in years.  Three Masses offered while we were there.  Worked until 12 Noon.  Closed our stores for the day.  Called to the store about 2 P.M. to fill Rx’s for Hyde’s 1423-7th.  Harry Kujawa family wrap on the door well we are there.  They brought a present for John Bauer Sr. and then spend the rest of the day with us.  Mary Ann and myself stop at Ostertags and Mauritz’s.  Joan Mauritz gets a new piano for Christmas.  We have a very enjoyable time of the Kujawas.  Mary Ann takes Mary and Joan Mauritz to the Strand.

26.  Thursday: [T] Aunt Lena and Annie Weisheipl spend the afternoon and evening with us.  Thres is lucky at sheephead, winner with 65 cents to the good.  I completed the drug orders at the store tonite into the folks, Aunt Lena and Annie home at 12.30 AM.  Four sisters have a fine visit.  Elsie Meisner left yesterday to spend time with her relatives at Stratford.
27.  Friday: Aunt Mary to Church this morning and reports to drizzle of rain when she comes home, which turns into real rain during the day, making the walks and streets very slippery.  Received “thank yous” from Monsignor Bastian, Sisters Saint Vincents, Father Scanlon.  This afternoon we have rain and thunder, the downpour of rain at times a very heavy.  I got stuck in our driveway, but finally managed to get my Plymouth back into the garage, and I stayed home the rest of the day.

29.  Sunday: [J.B.  T] To 730 Hi Mass Saint Vincents, then to work.  The roads and walks are very slippery.  Aunt Mary stays home today, from church.  Dr. Romberg tells me it took him 2 hours to drive from New London to Oshkosh.  Uncle Joe and Annie Heip are entertained at the Haverty’s today.  Worked 7 hours today.  Naomi Mueller is on duty today, and so is Joe Baier.

30.  Monday: Temperatures are at 7° below zero this morning.  Father Nillis tells me, that Monsignor Schmitz is not doing very well, may live only a few weeks longer.  Naomi Mueller is on the job today.  I thought she was to be out today.
31.  Tuesday: The last date is a busy one.  We entertain the usual folks.  Joe and Annie Heip –John and Thres Fretchel, Aunt Lena Baier.  Harry – Agnes Kujawa and the Baldwins from Berlin drop in.  They are headed for Club 41 to see the old year out.  Joe Heip had to leave at 11 Oclock to go to work.  I took the folks home at 215 A.M. and it is getting warmer, only 6° below zero.  Had a letter from Sister Melora – one from Sister Marina – Elm Grove.  Almost forgot I took Thres to Kiwanis this noon.  New officers are installed, Mrs. Jim Stube sings for us.
