February 29

1952: "This is that extra day we get every 4 years. Well it's nice and crisp out. Chamber of Commerce directors interview Mr. Stephens of Connersville, Indiana for the position of Secretary. We have luncheon at the Athern. He impressed me as a very good man for the job. Dropped in to see Uncle Joe at suppertime. He is resting and shows more improvement. Art Mueller is back on the job after being laid up with a sore throat since Tuesday afternoon." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1956: "This is the extra day we get this year. In business it should mean a lot. This is also the day when President Eisenhower said "Yes" he'll run again for President. According to his docors his health at present is such that he can run, altho he will forego a strenuous campaign. That he will be the Republican nominee seems to be a foregone conclusion." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
