February 6

1943: "Had a movie tonite. Two shorts which were very comical the bigger won [sic] was 'Twin Boys' with Jackie Cooper." [from Donald Potter's seminary diary]
1944: "...Took Fred and Mrs. Karst - Agnes Steckbauer and son Mark - Mary Ann to see Donald (son) at St. Nazianz. The roads across the lake are very icy. When ready to come home a long distance call comes in to Father Vincent for me. On calling home, Emma Baier gives me the sad news that Thres, my beloved wife, had a heart attack shortly after I left. Quick work by Dr. Will Wagner saved her. He got an oxygen tank from the Sheriff's office with which he could take care of her temporarily until the ambulance took her to Mercy Hospital. It was a sad drive home for me from St. Nazianz, always fearing she may be gone by the time I would be home. But the Good Lord spared her and she was fair when I arrived home. She had called Thres Fretschel to pick her up to go to St. Vincent's Card party just before she had the attack." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
