1937: "The Sheephead Club are [sic] here tonite for our biweekly play. Joe Hemmer attends the party of the Morgan Co. Foremen before our game and is very talkative. Rather hotly contested 60 hands. Joe Baier wins the dollar. Col. Charles Lindbergh has a birthday. He is 35." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1943: "Received our report cards today. It wasn't so hot. Went up in Latin, Religion, Music and down in the rest." [from Donald Potter's seminary diary]
1951: "To 7:30 Mass Father Wagner, Lenten regulations are read this morning. To work the rest of the morning, also to 7:30 this evening, then to Sacred Heart to see Musical Variety. It is very well rendered. The Weisheipls and Drexlers are very well represented. Ed Weisheipl is very comic. The Mueller Potter organization is well represented in the audience. Stopped at Koeck's Stop and Go Tavern, didn't stay long, too crowded, then to Tad Spaedtke for a small steak. Had Ed-Thres Fretschl with us." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
