July 16

1933: "Busy day. 7:30 Mass with male choir. then to the Sisters of St. Vincent's to take Sisters Victor, Rosalind, and Engelmar to Elm Grove. Stopped at Mount Mary College, had luncheon, met Sister Giradus, Madison; Sister Mary William, Marshfield. At Elm Grove met Sister Linus and had a very pleasant visit with Sister Davidica. She is 78 and does not look it. She is still active. Had a visit with Sister Ermanfrieda. She is a nurse at Elm Grove. sister Genrose, Ermanhilda, Maximilla, and Sirena are at summer school at Mount Mary. Stopped at Claire Hochhaus 7845 Harwood Wauwatosa, but she is not at home. Milwaukee is gaily decorated for the Elks Natinoal and State Conventions.  Arrived home tired at 8:30 after an hour delay at Fond du Lac. Fan belt on my car broke and had to be replaced. Took a drive to the cottage after a late supper. Joe Heip and Ed are at the Dramatics Club and Anna and Thres Fretschl are worrying. But why? Joe and Ed are sober. Played cards until 1 A.M. Then home, picked up Mary a 1:30 A.M. at Anna Drexler's." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]

1949: "Bill Mauritz is busy at the cottage repairing the concrete floor. I worked out there this afternoon. This evening we visit Emma Siewert at Mercy. She is looking good, still has much pain. This morning Sentinel conveys the news that Art Hazen passes the exam for full fledged pharmacist." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
