July 5

1954: "Today turns out a grand day, not too hot. Back to the cottage by 11:30 took Aunt Annie Heip along, had dinner at 1 P.M. Donald and family are with us. Don and I spend the afternoon on the lake, did a little fishing also with very poor results.  Otto-Emma Lemke, Thres Fretschl out about 3 o'clock. When Don and I came in, we prepared a wiener roast. We then took a boat ride after supper - it was the first for Donnie Jr. and Debbie.  Donnie enjoyed it very much, sang most of the time. Debbie looked a bit scared. (Blogger's note: Not sure if Debbie was scared of my singing or the boat ride!) After the ride we burned rubbish by the lake. About 9 o'clock Ed and Rose Binder came over. We all played Pokeno until about 12 o'clock. Don and family left for home (our house) to view T.V. and back about 10:30 with the news that Charles Blodgett had passed away. Emma and Otto left immediately, we broke up after midnite." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1955: "Arlene is ready to come home. I suggested they bring her to our house. Mother and I would stay at the cottage, and so they did. Mary Ann stays with them. Otto is still painting the dining room at Don's. Virginia Williams is elected president of the Oshkosh School Board at the Board meeting." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1996: McCartney Miller, son of Todd and Jane (nee Potter) Miller, grandson of Don and Arlene Potter, great-grandson of A.E. and Theresa Potter, is born.
