1935: "Took Mrs. Ed Steckbauer and her family along to the cottage this afternoon. It is a hot day and we all take out first swim at the Sand Pit this afternoon. Took another in the evening. Drank plenty of water and stayed up until 2 A.M." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]

Pall bearers: John Tauber, Anton Pable, Jos. Schani, Wm. Nuernberg, Louis Koelbl, A.E. Potter. About 5 this afternoon took Joe- Annie Weisheipl, Aunt Lena, Thres, Mary Ann to the cottage. Donald took Lawrence Kinsteder and the supplies. It's a lovely evening. Cards are played until 2 A.M. Got a ¼ barrel beer from Peoples Brewery for 4.94.
