July 8

1937: "Temperature is at 92° today. Joe Gernatis is at Mercy Hospital. Hurt badly in a fall in the cooling room of the Oshkosh Brewing Company yesterday afternoon at 4:30. He passed away this afternoon at 5:45. He was born at Wausau Nov. 8, 1937." (Note: must be mistake for the year of birth.) [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1939: "Took Bob out fishing this afternoon but no luck whatever. I threw my entire casting outfit into the lake but managed to retieve it after a half an hour. I told Bob he's a hoodoo. Took my first swim in Lake Butte des Morts for this year. The water was swell and we all hated to get out." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1943: "Naomi is much sunburned today. This is about all she caught yesterday, no fish. Donald worked his first full day at the store, put in 11 ½ hours and he sure was tired tonite. Took Matt Weisheipl to the cottage tonite." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1948: "Joe, Celia, Matt and Amanda Drexler are out today with the twins Johnny and Joey, and Judy. Bob Brand takes them out in his boat. The children get a big kick out of the fish, in fact they did not know if they should eat them raw or fried. This evening Joe and Elizabeth Stoegbauer, Tony and Nora Serwas are out to do a little gambling, Ace of Spades high and Deuce of Diamonds." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
