1941: "Took Sisters Herman or Ermanhilda and Marcelia to Milwaukee. Sister Marcelia stopped to see her brother Joseph Goskel at 2373 North 55th St. Joseph has been blind for nearly 60 years. He is now 68 and also has heart trouble. Met his wife Mary (Lippard) Gockel. Joseph's sister Miss Mary Gockel organized 'The Missionary Society of Catholic Women.' 1947: "Little Joanna Roszek is 3 years old today, she tells me. Well, she gets a nickel and so do Bobby and Joey. According to reports picketing at Foster Lothman factory has stopped. The strike began April 24, 1946." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1957: "Another lovely day. I woked part of this morning, took off the rest of the day. Came ot town this afternoon to pick up Thres Fretschl and then played sheephead with the ladies. Donald and family come out for supper and spent the evening. Lawrence Kinateder brought out his dad and mother, Ollie and Ann. Ollie is looking good but is unable to talk. Took the folks home at 10:00 P.M. Don and Arlene dropped in about 10:30 to let us know that Arlene's grandmother Viola Esslinger died at 6:10 this evening at Mrs. Donald Kiesow's 49 Lakeview Ave." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
