1933: "Oshkosh's 80th birthday is being celebrated with a big Homecoming Celebration."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1944: "Ed Fretschl reports that he is grandpa again. Rose Weisheipl takes her vacation this week. Father John Nuernberg is operated on at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. 'Lefty Edwards' Oshkosh All Stars basketball players opens a tavern at the old Charles Rang stand, 13th & Oregon. He has his 'Grand Opening' tonite. Roses for the ladies." [from A. E. 1946: "Ed Fretschl and Lawrence are up early and out fishing. They report poor luck in fact not even a bite. Walter Goodland is again named at the primary to run on the Republican ticket for Governor. Ralph Immell, the Milwaukee Sentinel candidate lost by some 20,000 votes. Joseph McCarthy defeated Robert M. La Follette for U.S. Senator. Bob has been int he Senate for 21 years, only 30 when first elected. Joe is 37. Coffee prices are going up 10 to 13 cents a pound by OK of the O.P.A."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
