1942: "We have a test Blackout in our ward and the third tonite from 9:30 to 10:00. Alois Kinateder is the air-raid warden in our block." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1948: "I drive to Mt. Calvary this afternoon to attend the Alumni Reunion of St. Lawrence. Met Ed Bonney, Frank Ascherl - Madison, Will Renner - Alexandria, John Duginski - Chicago, Stan Wachowiak - Chicago, Rev. Michael Prock, Pete (Coffee Pete) Hildebrand, Frank Heiman. After the evening entertainment I drive back home to the cottage. Frank Ruland, proprietor of the Palmyra Creamery passed away suddenly this afternoon at his home 912 Rugby. Born March 20, 1880." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1951: "This is a big day for Emma Siewert and Otto Lemke. They are married at St. Vincent's by Otto's son, Father Norbert Lemke. I'm Best man - Thres - Bridesmaid. Breakfast at Maxine's 'Ray Siewert's.' I then worked for three hours. Dinner at Maxine's. Eddie is here from Kaukauna. Worked another hour. Then  took Thres to Mercy Hospital. We visit Aunt Mary. I visit Jack Kavage. Also stopped to say good bye to Sister Aurelia. She leaves Monday for Port Washington. Her term of six years here is completed. Also saw Sister Philipbertha; she wants a fountain pen. Well she shall have it. Then over to Otto's son-in-law's on New York Ave. for sandwiches and beer. I called for Donald at the depot, then back to Blodgett's. Home at 11 o'clock."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
