Dinner at Athletic Club and a short meeting, then to the Eagles Club for a Druggist Meeting on the National Code. Meeting lasted until 12:30 A.M. then to the Eagles Palm Garden until 2:15 A.M> then home, arrived at 4 A.M. Forgot to mention that we met Janet Gaynor the actress  in a tavern in Slinger." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1940: "A lovely day. Gave the children a long boat ride this afternoon nearly back to the city. After the boat ride we enjoyed a swim in the lake. Donald I had quite a time retrieving out Water Ball after the wind blew it out to the middle of the lake. In the evening Bill and Emma Siewert came out. About 9:15 Father Michael Drexler - Clara - Elizabeth - and Frank Drexler dropped in . Father won 3 games of sheephead - Ma Potter won 4 and the rest of us won nothing. Party breaks up at 1:15 A.M. Larry Gerdes is in town soliciting Nyal "2 for 1 Sale" order. Injured my left ankle pulling in the boat, a board on the runway broke." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1950: "Norm Brown and Bob Kniss are in today. This afternoon took Father John Murphy along to Mt. Calvary fro the Alumni Reunion. Ed Boney - Al Reinig - Stan Wachowiak  John Pfister - Mike Prock are there. Had a visit with Father Gerold This evening we enjoyed an old-fashioned blow out with a few of us resurrecting a lot of old time songs. Father McGinnety, chaplain at Paris Island, Carolina played piano for us. Met Ed Hutter from Fond du Lac. Frank Ascherl, Madison is also with us. Drove home with Father Murphy about 10:30."  [from A.
