1940: "Winnebago County Fair opens today. Thres takes Donald, Mary Ann, Annie Weisheipl, and Mary Schneider to the fair. It is very wet out to the grounds. Some of the acts were not put on and no races. Thres wins a pretty doll for Mary Ann playing Bingo." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1952: "The Sisters of St. Vincent's have their outing at our cottage today. It turns out to be a very nice day. Eleven Sisters are with us and have a grand time at the lake and also at Canasta and Bingo. We have a wiener roast in the evening which they all enjoyed immensely. Donald and family are also present. The Sisters have a quite a time with Debbie and Jr. This is Oshkosh Day at our Fair. I dropped in to see Uncle Joe this evening, but find him asleep." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1953: "Another 93° day. Asked the folks to bring Uncle Joe Weisheipl to the cottage. Cork brought him and Annie. Eddie and Florence came also with Bobbie, Tommy, and Jimmie. Jimmie is growing fast. I told the folks I think he'll be a prize fighter some day. He looks to have the punch. The children had plenty of fun and Uncle Joe said it was much better here then home on the porch." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
