1939: "To Six o'clock mass, then Donald and myself took our Boat Motor to Bricknell's to have it checked. Worked the rest of the morning to 1 P.M. Took a drive in he afternoon out Hi way 45 then across to Van Dyne and back to Oshkosh. Stopped at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Dropped in for a few thirst quenchers at eh Airport Tavern. Back to work at 5 o'clock until 8. Took the family back to the cottage. Mrs. Ed Fretschl and Joe and Anna Heip spent the evening with us. Thres Fretschl staid overnight. 1947: "Our dear Aunt Lena is laid to rest this morning. Father Michael Drexler came down from Antigo to be in the Sanctuary. Monsignor Bastian conducts the services. Pallbearers Joe and Cork Weisheipl, Matt - Joe and Frank Drexler - Donald Potter. We go back to the cottage this afternoon. Joe and Annie Heip - Thres Fretschl - Emma Siewert and Mary Ann, Mother and myself. Lawrence Kinateder dropped in tonite with his lady friend." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1949: "Donald is married to Arlene Felker this morning at nine by Father Alphonse Wagner. Breakfast at Felker's at 11:30 A.M. Staudneraus at 1:30 for pictures. Then to Athearn to arrange the tables. Dinner at 6 P.M. Club Room. Joe Staudnernaus took more pictures then back to the V.F.W. Hall. Dancing until 1 A.M. Lewis Stridde orchestra.
