August 3

1935: "St. Peter's Church has a new cross which is to be lighted for the first time tonite. It is purported to be the first of its kind in the U.S.A. It is constructed of stainless steel and lighted from within by lumiline, the latest development of lighting engineers." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1941: "To 7:30 Mass at St. Vincent's then to work. Out to Point Comfort this afternoon where the St. Vincent's male choir is having an outing at Andrashko's cottage next to our lot. Joe Baier takes his family and Grandma Baier to Holy Hill this afternoon. Grandma sure can take it." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1947: "To 7:30 Mass then to work. This afternoon out to visit Mr. Lyman. Had Thres and Mary Ann along. Met Mrs. John R. Bauer at the Count Home. Thres meets Mr. and Mrs. Arneman. Took a drive to Fond du Lac to see what is left of Hill Brothers. Visited Ed Worm, back home at 6:30. shortly after arriving home, Donald called with the sad news that our dear Aunt Lena had suddenly passed away this afternoon in a chair up in her upstairs room at the Baier home. This is indeed a great shock to all of us." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
