03.  Wednesday: Ven. Sister Meralda laid to rest.  Solemn Requiem by her brother Rev. Du Pont as celebrating, Mons. Bastian and Rev. Leo Ott Deacon and Subdeacon, Donald served.  Pallbearers: John Tauber – Anton Pable –Jos. Schani – Wm Nuernberg – Louis Koelbl – A.E. Potter.  About 5 this afternoon took Joe – Annie Weisheipl –Aunt Lena – Thres – Mary Ann to the cottage.  Donald took Lawrence Kinateder and the supplies.  Its a lovely evening.  Cards are played until 2 A.M.  Got ¼ barrel from Peoples Brewery for 494.  When mother and I were married beer was 600 a barrel.
04.  Thursday: Drove to town this morning for ice.  This afternoon the men and Mary Ann attend the ball game. It is a slvatfest Oshkosh trouncing Appleton 15 to 1.  In the 6th inning we had 9 men at bat, each one getting hit before we had a man out.

06.  Saturday: [T] The folks move back to town this evening.  Rose Weisheipl begins her vacation today the ladies call for her before 5 Oclock to catch the train for Milwaukee.  Joe Weisheipl – Donald and myself attend Oshkosh – Wausau baseball game.  We win 8-3.  Runs 2-4-2 in the second – sixth and seventh innings Ike Bloom pitched.
07.  Sunday: To 730 Mass at St. Johns, then to work.  After a short nap took Joe – Annie Weisheipl, Aunt Lena – Thres to the Strand. See two “Jesse James” pictures.  Jesse James stars “Tyrone Power – Henry Fonda – Nancy Kelly – Randolph Scott.  “The Return of Frank James” stars Henry Fonda –Gene Tierney.  Stopped at the Heips for few minutes this afternoon met Frank Drexler’s wife who came over from England about a week ago.  After the theatre I work until 11 O’clock, then cards to 1 A.M. and took the folks home.
08.  Monday: The Wisconsin Axle Company is getting back on the job, after a two months strike.
09.  Tuesday: Harry Ferry buys my luncheon ticket today.  Thres attends picnic of the ladies auxiliary South Side Business Mens Club, at the American Legion Club House and grounds.
10.  Wednesday: The folks move out to the cottage for the rest of the week.  Lawrence Kinateder is with us.  I get there 6 P.M.  Its a lovely evening, nice breeze, town was hot and sultry today, temperature over 90.  The Weisheipls by me get their car back today after having it in the garage for 8 weeks.
11.  Thursday: Cooler today, temperature about 76°.  Ed Weisheipl tells me some news.  He is to be married September 5th.  Thres has company at the cottage: Jennie Miller –Nora Serwas – Clara Dembowiak and children –Betty Drexler (Mrs. Frank) from England –Aunt Annie Weisheipl.
12.  Friday: Back to warm weather.

14.   Sunday: [T] To 730 Mass St. Vincents Holy Name.  Then to work.  Slept this afternoon until 530 Thres until 600.                  Com.  Holy Name Members
15.  Monday: St. Swithins Day is a nice day, somewhat cool, and according to legend we should 40 more days like it.  Tonite took Thres – Marianne – Aunt Lena to the Oshkosh to see “Smoky” in technicolor.  Story of an untamed horse, starring Fred Mac Murray – Anne Baxter.  “Strange Triangle” stars Signe Hasso – Preston Foster.  The “Oshkosh Giants” are defeated by the “All Stars” 8 to 2.
16.  Tuesday: [TEG] Thres and family are back at the cottage.  It is a rather hot day and a lovely moonlight night.  Wrote a letter to the folks in Germany.  They are now in Parsberg 13 Oberpfalz Boyern German American Zone.  To Perpetual Help Devotion with Aunt Lena.  Diamond Match workers are ready to go back on the job.  They have been on strike since May 6th.  About 520 are expected back by next week.
17.  Wednesday: Company at the cottage today.  Aunt Lena and Joan Mauritz came out to stay a few days.  The fish are biting a little.  Donald and myself got six perch one sheephead.  The Kujawa’s come over about 9 PM.  Played some sheephead.  Harry is learning 5 hand.  Ed Luhur passed away at 429-18th St. this morning 430.  He was in a tavern business in Butte des Morts  5 years – farmer 12 years, then back to tavern.  Operated New Assembly tavern on Waugoo St. Born Jan. 2 – 1878.  Married Sept. 6th, 1909 to Lillian Eilers.  Mrs. Al Mathieu is their daughter.  Received a letter from Germany.
18.  Thursday: Had a visit with Mrs. Ernestine Dumke, Minnesota Street, this afternoon.  She was our neighbor when we lived at 1212 Minnesota 45 years ago.  She will be 89 November 17th.  Her son Will also lives with her.  Wayne Wiechering dropped in today.  Use to work in or South Store.  He is now employed by Child’s Restaurants in Brooklyn.  He is looking very well.
19.  Friday: Donald completes his summer course at the High School.  This may be his last in High School.
20.  Saturday: Sent another package to the folks in Bayern German American Zone, also a letter.  Tonite took Aunt Lena – Annie Weisheipl – Thres –Mary Ann to the Strand.  “Without Reservations” stars Claudette Colbert – John Wayne –Don De Fore – Louella Parsons.  “Ding Dong Williams stars Glenn Vernon –Marcy McGuire – Felix Bressart.  Beef Sandwiches and Beer at Pete King’s completes the day.
21.  Sunday: [TEG] To St. Vincents 730 Mass Father Leo Ott announces our raise in salary for pastors – assistants – housekeepers and the Sisters, and they all well deserve it, and I think they should still more than they are asking.  Worked all morning and stayed at home the rest of the day.  Mary Ann is the champion cribbage player here, she beat mother and me two out of four games.
22.  Monday: Thres back to the cottage, took Bill and Emma Siewert along.  Played cards to 1230.  To bed by 1 A.M.
23.  Tuesday: Thres has much company today.  18 ladies of the South Side B.M. Auxiliary spend the day at the cottage.  Angie Jansen – Louise Zentner –Mrs. Herb Nolte – Rose Binder –Dess Wirtz –Jos. Nolte – Vese Haveman – Ida Menzel – Emma Siewert – Elsie Zentner – Leona Dodd – Elizabeth Lehnigk – Mame Siewert – Mary Fenzl – Rose Schneider –Laura Schein – Alma Thobaben.  Leo Arendt and Charlotte Schmidt married six years ago today.
24.  Wednesday: The Siewerts are with us for another day.  I get to the cottage about 3 Oclock.  Bill and Donald fished this morning, caught 4 Perch.  This afternoon’s fishing brought only chills.  More cards tonight, another late session and we get to bed by 130.  Took Aunt Lena Baier a long this afternoon, to the cottage.  A submarine Atomic Bomb the sat out at Bikini Lagoon this morning 835 A.M.  (3.35 C.S.T. this afternoon our time).  Sunk three battleships and did mutch other damage.
25.  Thursday: Brought the Siewerts back to town this morning, and I’m not feeling any too good.  My heart is kicking up a lot of pains, will have to get more rest.  But I did not get it tonight.  Lawrence Kinateder spends the nite with us.  I worked until 10 P.M. then to the post office with the drug orders, home at 1045, cards and lunch and it is 130 and bed by 2 A.M.  Harold Prideaux’s wife Elizabeth has a birthday.  Born July 25 – 1905
26.  Friday: [TEG] The folks come to town tonite.
27.  Saturday: Took Aunt Lena – Thres Fretschl with us to the Strand.  “A Stolen Life” stars Bette Davis playing twin sisters with Glenn Ford –Charles Ruggles – Dane Clark.  “Dressed to Kill” features Patricia Morison with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.  Stopped at Pete Kings for a Beef Plate Lunch.
28.  Sunday: To 730 Mass St. Vincents, then to work.  After a short nap took Aunt Lena –and Thres Fretschl with us to the cottage, almost forgot took little Joe Baier along also.  To bed by midnight.  Donald stayed in town.               Com. Rev. Jno.  Nuernberg
29.  Monday: Barbara Brand has a birthday.  Norman Brown also has a birthday today.
30.  Tuesday: [TEG] Attended Kiwanis – Rotary Picnic with the family at the Northern State Hospital picnic grounds.  Dr. Byron Hughes and Carl Schmidt prove themselves wonderful hosts.  Donald played ball on both Kiwanis and Rotary teams.  Kiwanis won 16-6.  Milking Contest was also won by Kiwanis.  Volley Ball Kiwanis one game Rotary one Game.  Carl Schmidt and myself throw horseshoes.  Carl can hardly believe I don’t play the game.
31.  Wednesday: Thres drives out to Jansens cottage with some of the ladies of the S.S.B.M. Club.  I took Donald and Robert Fretchel to or cottage this afternoon, did some fishing without luck then back to town for supper and took Thres and Mary Ann to the Strand to see Kitty Foylle starring “Ginger Rogers –Dennis Morgan – James Craig.  “Junior Prom” is the sneak preview picture.  It is very comical.
