01. Wednesday: Thres and I drive to Milwaukee a
beautiful day, temperature up to 50° and no snow or rain. Dropped in at the usual places, Yahr-Lange –
Mutual –Howdin Distilled Products – McClurg.
Dinner at Fritz Gust. Did some
Christmas Shopping at Gimbel’s. Then out
to Carl and Margaret’s. Little “Gail” is
fine weighs 12 pounds. Drove out to Louie’s. Got into the wrong house on the wrong street
and tried to deliver Annie’s fruit jars – coal scuttle and sprinkling can. Finally hit the right place, had a swell
visit with Anna and Louie. Romy is
working nights. Back home at 1130
P.M. after a sandwich and big beer at Fritz Weisheipl’s.
02. Thursday: Annie Weisheipl is 61 today and gets
many calls and congratulations. We had
venison for dinner today. Sent some out
to the Weisheipl’s and Joe Sr. and Eddie enjoyed a delicious supper.
03. Friday: To St. Vincents at 7 AM. Early to work, and Ed Fretchel is waiting for
me. He really gives me a swell bawling
out and if things are as bad as he says, I surely had it coming. Well, after he had told all he had on his
mind, I did not blame him a bit for talking as he did. At any rate, the storm is over, he feels
better, everything is forgiven and all is well again. Com. Donald & Mary Ann
04. Saturday: Christmas shopping is on quite
briskly, and mailing of packages is already heavy. Took Mary Ann to help me at the store
tonite. Francis Lamb is with me until
10.30 for income tax adjustments and also Industrial Commission’s. To St. Mary’s Hospital this morning, to find
if possible our room for Lena Kuste, sister to Mrs. Minnie Mueller. Sister Jacoba promises to get her in
soon. Also had a nice visit with Sister
Cornelia.
05. Sunday: Up early this morning, to 6 oclock
Mass at St. Johns. Worked all morning
until 1:00 P.M. After a nice chicken
dinner a long nap. Almost forgot, took
Aunt Mary to Third Order meeting at Sacred Heart, and Honey to the “Mode” Theatre,
then my nap. Worked from 5 to 8 and then
to Joe Weisheipls to celebrate Annie’s birthday. Took Joe to work at 11.30 and had all the
folks home by midnight. It is raining

08. Wednesday: To St. Vincents 7 A.M., it is
misting out. View the remains of Joe Hubertus
at Marquardts. He is laid to rest this
morning. Father Leo Courtney officiates. View the remains of Grandpa John Reichardt
this evening. Worked tonite instead of
an evening off. Com.

09. Thursday: Grandpa John Reichardt is laid to
rest this morning.
10. Friday: We are in the midst of a mild
influenza epidemic. Many people are laid
up. It is not the violent type but it
does put people to bed from 2 or 3 days to a week.
11. Saturday: Tony Serwas is home from Mercy
Hospital.
12. Sunday: To 730
Mass at St. Johns, then to work. Took
Thres along to see Tony Pable at Sunnyview this afternoon. From there we drove two Ray Ostertag’s to
congratulate little Raymond who made his first “Holy Communion” today. We had to stay for supper. I went back to work and called for Thres and
Mary Ann after work.
13. Monday: After about 6 weeks of lovely weather,
we find the thermometer registering 1° above zero today. Mary Ann begin her tap dance lessons at Marion
Weisheipls. Thres and Mrs. Tony Paulick play bingo at Sacred Heart
Christian Mothers Christmas Party. All of their Franciscan Sisters are
there to receive a present. Thres and Mrs. Paulick win nothing.

15. Wednesday: Christmas Cards are arriving early
this year. We have been receiving them
for a week. Warmer today, temperature is
2 above this morning.

21. Tuesday: Father Ott brings Donald and the boys
from St. Nazianz.
22. Wednesday: Winter weather today 2° below zero. Ed Fretchel is laid up today with a cold. Charlotte Arendt is laid up this morning with
a bad hip.
23. Thursday: Ed Fretchel is back on the job today. Theresa Kellerman is laid to rest this
morning.

Up rather late. Donald serves at
midnight. Worked a while this morning. Harry – Agnes – Mary – Johnny Kujawa come

26. Sunday:
To 730 Mass St. Johns, then to work. We are very busy this morning. Aunt Lena Baier comes over after 9 Oclock
Mass and spends the day with us. Joe,
Emma and little Joey come over this afternoon for short visit. In the evening Anna Weisheipl comes over with
her presents for us. After I come home
we play sheephead until midnight and after a lunch I took Annie and Lena home

28. Tuesday: Ladies are with us at Kiwanis
Luncheon today and it proves to be quite a party. A nice program and Bart Heiss – Harry Brueger
– Earl Smith –Leight Hough were installed as president –vice – pres –secy –and
treasurer. New Directors are Al Dunham –
A.E. Potter –Harry Bruegger –Allan Davey – Gene Vogel –Sam Luchsinger.
29. Wednesday:
And Ostertag and children Raymond – Jimmie – Carrol, Rose Mauritz – Billy –
Joan – Barbara, Emma Baier – Faye – Joey and Aunt Lena are here for the
afternoon.

31. Friday: F. W. Mueller is 70 years old
today. He is feeling quite well. Another lovely day, temperatures
up to 34°. Worked until 930. Ed and Thres Fretchel,
Annie Heip, Aunt Lena Baier are over to see the year out. Party
breaks up at 315 A.M. and I chauffeur the folks home.
Received a card from Lt. Charles F. Nolan today. He is somewhere in the
Pacific. The card was on the way for 20 days. Dolores and Alois
Kinateder are overnight guest at our house.
