02.  Friday: To St. Vincents Church 7 Oclock.  Sold candles as usual.                  Com.  Donald – Mary Ann
03.  Saturday: Took Thres and Mary Ann to Oshkosh to see “Lake Placid Serenade” starring Vera Hruba Ralston – Eugene Palette –Vera Vague – Robert Livingston – Stephanie Bachelor – Roy Rogers – Ray Noble Orchestra, also “The Hairy Ape” starring William Bendix – Susan Hayward.  We did not like this last picture.
04.  Sunday: Donald and Jr. Drexler almost went to St. Nazianz to see Graduation exercises at the Seminary.  A heavy snowstorm overnite kept them home. To 730 Mass at St. John’s.  Blessing of throats after every Mass there.  Robert Paulick is in this morning.  His furlough is about over and he expects to be sent back to Iceland.                Com.  Thanksgiving
05.  Monday: To Kiwanis Directors luncheon this noon.  About 18 members attended, some of them were not directors.
06.  Tuesday: [T] We have a little stag party tonite in honor of Cork Weisheipl.  Matt Drexler – Joe Kloiber – Joe Baier –Al Mugerauer – Cork and Ed Weisheipl are here.  They stay until 230 A.M.  Thres attends Business Mens Auxiliary party.  She was on committee for tonite’s doings.  Attended Kiwanis luncheon, took along Dave Collin as usual.  Nile Behnke showed slides of Oshkosh from way back when, and they surely were interesting.  Our table Frank Labudde – Gene Vogel – Frank Sullivan –Ed Durler –Mr. Cook – Ed’s guest and yours truly.
07.  Wednesday: We have and all days snowstorm, about 8 inches on the level.  Forgot Father Michael Drexler was at our stag party last night.  He is slated to go to Antigo today to be assistant at
08.  Thursday: This is my busy day.  Paid all M P D bills – Posted the books –and had out all our orders in the mail by 10.30 P.M.  After arriving home, shoveled the snow out of the driveway and when its done, Im very tired.
09.  Friday: Had some bad dizzy spells this morning, had to stay in bed until 10.30.  Am able to navigate but not 100°.  Down to work at noon and stayed until 930 P.M. without further ill effects.  Very tired tonite and hope to hit the hay earlier than usual.
10.  Saturday: Took Aunt Lena Baier – Thres and Mary Ann to see “Cant Help Singing” in Technicolor with Deanna Durbin –Robert Paige - Akim Tamiroff, also Charles Korvin – Ella Raines in “Enter Arsene Lupin.”
11.  Sunday: Donalds birthday today, he is 17.  Had a real dinner and spread and lots of fun for everybody, especially Mary Ann. To 730 St. Vincents with Holy Name Society.  Then to work, also work this evening until 9 P.M.  Had company tonight Will and Emma Siewert and Aunt Lena Baier are here.
12.  Monday: [T] To Kiwanis (Directors) and Rotary Luncheon.  It is really Rotary Clubs Luncheon and we Kiwanians are invited to to hear William D Saltiel, Chicago, special assistant to the United States Attorney general.  Mr. Saltiel has traveled the world extensively and is well posted on world affairs.  Rose Weisheipl is not to work this morning.  Someone mentioned that her “nerves are shot.” She’s back this afternoon all OK so they could not have been shot very badly.  Thres and Annie Heip saying some old timers for the ladies of the Catholic Womens Council.  About 260 members present.

16.  Friday: Paul C. Meyer passed away this afternoon of a heart attack.  Brother to Mrs. Harry Bin – Mrs. William Last – Ruth Meyer.  Born July 6 – 1892, son of a late Rudolph Meyer.  He was personnel manager at the Universal Foundry Co..  11° below zero this morning.
17.  Saturday: Eleven below zero this morning.
18.  Sunday: To 730 Mass St. Vincents.  Father Bastian speaks about confession the most consoling sacrament.  To work and this evening took Thres and Mary Ann to the Oshkosh to see “Tonite and Every Night” in Technicolor with Rita Hayworth –Janet Blair – Lee Bowman also “I Love a Mystery” 10° below zero this morning.
19.  Monday: [T] Joe Baier and myself take basement inventory at the South Side Store.  9° below zero this morning.
20.  Tuesday: Two Kiwanis luncheon.  Rev.  Merrill Abbey speaks about racial and religious tolerance.  Marvin Kile from Beaver Dam stops in to be with us.  He is at our table, with Jessie Pindell Pierce – Ed Ladvina – O.A. Sandeen.  Joe and I complete basement inventory.  Gloria Vanderbilt di Cicco is 21 years of age today, and she receives $4 438 000 as legacy thru her Father Reginald Vanderbilt.  She has been titled the “for little rich girl.” She is married to Pasquale di Cicco – 35 year old Hollywood agent.

24.  Saturday: Donald has company for supper.  Frederick (Buss) Baumgartner and Donald De Behnke are here.  All three attend All Star Basketball game.
25.  Sunday: To 730 Mass at St. Johns.  Then to work.  Aunt Lena is over this afternoon.  Visited with the Nuernberg family tonite.  Father John came in at 11 oclock last night.  They are quite resigned to the loss of their husband and father.  Aunt Mary takes a fall this morning, as she was leaving for church, near our house and can not go out for the rest of the day.     Com.  Safe Journey                        5 M.O.  Jacob Nuernberg
26.  Monday: Took the 1110 A.M. C & N.W. train to Chicago, arrived 315 P.M. registered at the Sherman Hotel.  Took street car to United Drug Company, worked with Henry Apida.  Back to town, had dinner at Pete’s Café on State Street.  Then to see “Keys of the Kingdom” at State Lake Theatre featuring Gregory Pack – Roddy McDowell –Rosa Stradner – Vincent Prize – Jane Ball.  It was a good picture.  Stopped at Darby Inn on Randolph for sandwich and beer.  Tonite midnight curfew goes into effect all over the country and Chicago surely looks dark and dismal.
27.  Tuesday: [T] No breakfast this morning.  Took streetcar to United Drug Co.  Meeting of Directors got a late start, Mr. Griffing, Mr. Richards – Mr. Mead, arrived late.  Had luncheon as usual at Central Mfg. District Club.  Worked with Frank Piscadi this afternoon.  Back to the hotel.  Had dinner at Pellegrins (Clark St.) then to Oriental Theatre Henry Busse Orchestra is here – also the picture “The Town went Wild” with Freddie Bartholomew – James Lydon.  Its a scream.  Then to “Darby Inn” for sandwich.
28.  Wednesday: Had late breakfast today at “Triangle Restaurant” on Randolph.  Then to “Owen Roberts” Market Street made a good connection for merchandise.  Took all Halstead 79th car to see Bob and Rose Gittings and Teddy, and spend the evening with them.  Had dinner at Tally Ho Inn where Rose works.  It was really a swell meal.  Teddy looks then that has a very fine appetite.  The folks are very glad to see us.  Well he hadn’t seen Rose for about 3 years.  On our way home and have the usual sandwich at “Darby Inn ”
