1934: "Dr. E. Forrest Bickel passed away this morning at 5:32 at Mercy Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1878 in the Susquehanna Valley, Pa. Came to Oshkosh in 1914 purchased the practice of the late Dr. Adolph Roos, and also his home at 65 Otter St. Bill Steude (furrier) lost his wife Florence this morning at 2 o'clock. She as born Nov. 1, 1899. She was a twin sister to Mrs. Roman Baranowski. Married to Bill May 20, 1930. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Widmer. Henry Hughes presides as judge for the first time this morning. Attended annual audit of books at St. Vincent's." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1955: "Cork Weisheipl blew into town last night for a short vacation. He's been playing at the Paio Club Cairo, Ill. Norm Brown is back with us today. Sybelle's mother Etta has not improved much at the hospital. Don (son) takes Arline (daughter-in-law) to Dr. Meli's office tonite. Looks like another little Potter coming up this summer."
