1950: "To 7:30 Mass St. Vincent's Monsignor Bastian. After Mass busy with orders and trade at the store. Donald's (son) little girl is baptized today by Father Wagner. Sponsors Joe Baier and Bernice Zuehlke. We are at Felker's for dinner. I complete orders at home while the folks play sheephead at Felker's. Forgot to mention the little girl's name is Deborah Ann." 1951: "We are faced with a real cold spell this morning; temperature is 22 degrees below zero at 6 A.M. Took my car to garage for checkup, battery, grease job, etc. Father Spalding is in to see me about being probation officer for a young man. We get the boy out of the County Jail this afternoon."
