January 11

1936: "Donald (son) goes to see Shirley Temple in The Littlest Rebel at the Strand Theatre.  He staid [archaic spelling for "stayed"] for 4 shows and has us all worried.  We thot [sic] that he had become lost. [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1943: "Joe Weisheipl Sr. has a night out and Ed and Thres Fretschel, Ma Potter and myself make our holiday visit there.  We get home at 2:30 A.M. Tuesday.  I tuned in the radio and it is surprizing the number of stations on at this time of the morning.  One station was announcing and explaining pages from 'You can't do business with Hitler and Europe in Revolt another station 'Frank the Diamond Man' was seling diamond rings."[sic] [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
