1936: "Nine below zero this morning.  The King of England is very low this morning.  City Aldermen vote 19-13 to amend city zoning ordinance to permit building of new courthouse on the Clark-Kennedy site.  Mary Ann (daughter) after having been corrected several times as to her English said to me: 'Oh Daddy don't be such a smart boy." [from A. 1937: "President Franklin D. Roosevelt is inaugurated today for a second term as president.  This is the first time the new president is inaugurated in January.  He has been inaugurated the 4th of March...Mrs. Theresa Tauber, cousin to Mrs. Potter passes away suddenly this evening.  Born in Austria Dec. 12, 1866.  She was the cook and our wedding and also on our 25th wedding anniversary." [from A. 1953: "Dwight Eisenhower is inaugurated today as our 34th President.   Took Thres out to the Weisheipl's to see the inauguration and parade on television.  This afternoon Thres takes another treatement from Ray Simpson." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
