January 28

1935: "St. John's Cathedral Milwaukee razed by fire early this morning, about 1:30 A.M. The loss is inestimable as many priceless relics and paintings were lost.  Also the Main Altar and the very expensive organ."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1957: "Busy day getting ready for our annual meeting tonite.  Norm Brown is over for noon meal.  Edward Garthwaite 34, Personnel Director at Deltox Co. received the Junior Chamber Distinguished Service Award.  Glenn Jorgensen 52, Vice President First National Bank received the (DCA) Distinguished Citizenship Award.  Had our annual meeting of Mueller Potter tonite at the South Store.  I welcomed the two new stockholders Art Hazen and Gerald Calder.  Harry and Agnes Kujawa spend the evening with mother." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1961: Theresa Ann (nee Drexler) Potter, wife of the late A.E. and mother of Donald A. Potter, Sr. and Mary Ann Potter dies at age 74.
