1947: "Donald (son) attends Graduation Banquet at the American Legion Clubhouse tonite. I worked part time tonite, put in 10 hours of work today. Larwrence Kinateder was here when Mary Ann (daughter) and myself get home. Played sheephead and Lawrence almost wins. He goes home at 12 o'clock. Eddie Kollross passed away suddenly this afternoon 1:30 at Rochester, Minn. Born Aug. 10, 1897." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1949: "An old landmark is being torn down. It is the Samer building 9th and Ohio St. (S.E. corner). Dad (Stanislaus Jarosch, adoptive father) had a tailor shop there when I was a little boy. Samer had the saloon on the corner, living quarters in the rear. Temperature is up to 43° tonite with colder weather predicted. Worked 58 1/2 hours this week. Boyd Jordan has a birthday.
