1942: "Thres comes in from the cottage this morning to stay over Saturday. Rose Weisheipl has a call from Kenny today over the phone. He tells her 'It was a tough day, but he made her.' Poor Kenny! Eddie Weisheipl has a long distance call tonite from Miss Marion Prehn at Milwaukee. She wants him to pick her up from the 11 o'clock train. She tells him she is down and needs cheering up. 1934: "Drug Convention opens in Fond du Lac. It is a real business convention with lots of fun at night. Mrs. Ed Worm is celebrating her birthday and how! It's a Wow! Arrived home at 3:30 A.M. Being chairman of the committee revising the constitution and bylaws I had to present this for first reading. Had lunch at the Kiwanis Club with Ed Worm and John Demgen." [from A. E. 1951: "To town early this morning. Picked up Virginia Abrahms and daughter Louise then Sisters Alverna, Ermenhilda, Theodore and ? and took them to Mount Mary. The Sisters took loads of luggage. In fact I stopped in Fond du Lac; thought I'd lost some from the trunk of the car. They took us thru Mount Mary, very interesting chapel, study and classrooms, auditorium, swimming pool, lounges for smoking and reception lounge rooms. Paintings of Dr. Fitzgerald President of Mount Mary also his wife. Mount Mary is indeed a beautiful spot. Took Ginny and Louise to Mader's for noon meal at 1 P.M. then to Broadway Church Goods House. Alex Paderowski left us for the golf grounds, then to McClurgs, to Cape Cod Inn - lobster tail dinner, then for home, arrived 10:30 P.M. Mrs. Meyer's parents Mr./Mrs. Maru Carol are there. It's a beautiful layout, very sensible and livable. Then we inspect the Oshkosh Filtration Plant and from there to Sommerfeld Welding's new home on Jackson Drive. They supply oxygen tanks to hospitals. Entertainment and dancing complete the evening." Then to St. Vincent's Recreation to meet Father Roman Harold Stadtmueller who celebrated his first Solemn Hi Mass at St. Vincent's. He has joined the Salvatorian Fathers. He bestowed upon us his priestly blessing. We then drove to Maple Grove to pay our last respects to Father Francis Schoettl. Had along visit with his mother; she was 90 years of age Jan. 19th. Boomerang stars Dana Andrews, Jane Wyatt, Lee Cobb. Based on a true story. Vacation Days stars Jerry Wold, 'Spade Cooley' and their orchestras. 1934: "Sang at 7:30 Hi Mass with mixed choir. Then work until 2 P.M. Took Louis and Mary Mauritz and Margaret Drexler to Milwaukee. Sister Melora is still teaching at Holy Cross. The congregation is quite large between 600 and 700 families. The Paladine Fathers are the pastors. They also have a few novices for their order at this place. They intend to build soon and have more students. Met Sister Rosewin, the Superior at the school. Had a visit with Karl Radomsky, Margaret's beau. Sponged a sandwich at the Knickerbocker Hotel." At 5:15 our Kiwanis baseball minded fans leave for Milwaukee, Ma and me included, to see the Milwaukee Braves play the New York Giants. It was a very good game; the Braves lost 4-2. Eddie Mathews made his 11th home run. We all enjoyed it very much and had good seats. Ma and I sat back of home plate, Section one, Row 24, Seats 11 and 12. We are back in Oshkosh at 1 A.M. 1934: "Attended 7:30 Mass then took Ed out to the cottage. Sang with the mixed choir at the 10:30 outdoor Mass sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The Fox River Valley is celebrating the Tercentenary of the coming of the white man to Wisconsin. It was an impressive occasion, the Fourth Degree Knights in official regalia also the Boy Scouts were there in uniform." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1940: "Another hot day, 88° in the shade. Druggist of the 6th Congressional District meet at the Hotel Raulf tonite. A dinner precedes our meeting. Some ladies are in attendance. Wilbur Lalis is our chairman." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]

Attended the South Side Business Man's Auxiliary Picnic at Morgan's this evening. Thres won two prizes (Pot of Gold) 25 pennies and some doilies. Bill and Emma Siewert stop over at our house after the party. Our party ends up at 1:30 A.M. Gene Englund, Kenosha, outstanding U of W basketball player and captain of the U.W. 1946: "This is a gala day for Mary Ann. She graduated from St. Vincent's. Monsignor Bastian presents the diplomas at 9 o'clock Mass. We all attend. The afternoon is spent taking pictures and entertaining company. At 5 o'clock dinner Aunt Lena, Annie Weisheipl, Thres Fretchel, Rose Mauritz, and Joan are present. The folks see the entertainment at St. Vincent's tonite. Thres and I attend the graduation exercises at Mercy School of Nursing. Virginia Mueller graduates. Father Head addresses the graduates.
