1946: "This is a gala day for Mary Ann. She graduated from St. Vincent's. Monsignor Bastian presents the diplomas at 9 o'clock Mass. We all attend. The afternoon is spent taking pictures and entertaining company. At 5 o'clock dinner Aunt Lena, Annie Weisheipl, Thres Fretchel, Rose Mauritz, and Joan are present. The folks see the entertainment at St. Vincent's tonite. Thres and I attend the graduation exercises at Mercy School of Nursing. Virginia Mueller graduates. Father Head addresses the graduates.
