1933: "Joe Hemauer has a birthday today; he is 28. Took St. Vincent's graduates out to the cottage. There are 16 of them and Sisters Ambrosia and Valeria. The graduates are Catherine Ackerman, Donald Botz, Helen and Vincent Galassia, Constance Heinzl, Gregory Ilk, Joseph Jungen, Loretta Lang, Eugene Karst, John Kellermann, Leonard Mathe, Helene Nigl, Jane Noe, Florence Ostertag, Florence Reichenberger, and Agnes Schroeder. Temperature is not bad during the day, but turns to 42° during the night." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1948: "To 7:30 Mass St. Vincent's Holy Name, then to work, put in 5 hours today. After a nice chicken dinner to Joe Baier's to watch the Patriotic Parade. Ohio Vicinity Merchants dedicate memorial to the heroes of Oshkosh who lost their lives during World War Two. Father Bunkleman gives the Invocation. Kenny Kunde give a fine talk. Rev. David Fetter, the Blessing. I took some movies; they may not be so good. Thres attends card party at Sacred Heart tonite, no prize. Donald is at St. Nazianz for Alumni Meet with Father Ott. [from A. 1954: "To 7:30 Low Mass with Holy Name, then to work for 3 hours. Father John J. Murphy celebrates his silver jubilee in the priesthood. We attend the banquet in his honor at 12:30. After the banquet we meet Fathers Joe Ahearn, Linzmeier, Victor, Kaudy, Lambert, Scanlon, also Father Murphy's dad and mother. Then to St. Vincent's Recreation to meet Father Roman Harold Stadtmueller who celebrated his first Solemn Hi Mass at St. Vincent's. He has joined the Salvatorian Fathers. He bestowed upon us his priestly blessing. We then drove to Maple Grove to pay our last respects to Father Francis Schoettl. Had along visit with his mother; she was 90 years of age Jan. 19th. After that on our way home we stop at Van Camp's and who do we meet there? Eddie Heip and Florence, Harry and Lucille Voss. Florence is 34 today." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
