1942: "Thres comes in from the cottage this morning to stay over Saturday. Rose Weisheipl has a call from Kenny today over the phone. He tells her 'It was a tough day, but he made her.' Poor Kenny! Eddie Weisheipl has a long distance call tonite from Miss Marion Prehn at Milwaukee. She wants him to pick her up from the 11 o'clock train. She tells him she is down and needs cheering up. 1946: "A busy day fro me, Did not get away to the cottage until after 5 P.M. Took Aunt Lena along. Stopped to view the remains of Mrs. Stumvoll at Poklasny's. She looks lovely. 1951: "Attended Kiwanis luncheon, we hear a talk on conservation by the head of the state wardens, Mr. Hadlon. Otto Lemke and Annie Heip to the cottage this noon. I brought along Thres Fretchel at 4:30 P.M. After work the ladies get me for sheephead until 1 A.M. To my bed, I meant couch (The ladies occupy the beds.) by 2 A.M." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
