1937: "Attended six o'clock Mass this morning and then to work. During the afternoon took a ride to the cottage. The kids go in swimming. Had Ted and Mark Steckbauer along. I tried a new remedy last night and feel much better today. This is Father's Day. I receive a few presents from the kids and Anna Drexler. Am feeling somewhat better this morning." [from A. E. 1948: "To 7:30 Hi Mass at St. Vincent's then to work for 3 ½ hours. This afternoon to the Centennial Celebration of bringing Christianity to Winnebago County at Menominee Park. M.C. is Earl Clemans 'Father Allouez' Father Leo Ott. He gives a 15 minute invocation; it is very well presented. Judge Roland Stenile is the Speaker of the Day. the weather is very good. We had Mame, Emma Siewert, Rose Binder with us. Stopped at Fritz Weisheipl's after the doings." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1950: "Thres cleaned up along the shrubbery at the cottage, about 10 good sized wheel barrow fulls. We learned the Heips are stranded at Cornell while their car is being repaired at Marshfield. We get a new car this evening, a De Soto Custom built. It's pretty job only 2506 dollars with radio, clock, direction lights, etc." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
