Diary of Alfred E. Potter August, 1934

01.   Wednesday: Took the Heips out to the cottage this afternoon.  Bill and Emma Siewert come out to, but Bill had his fun spoiled by getting an attack of rheumatism.
02.  Thursday: It is rather warm today.  President Paul Von Hindenburg of Germany died early this morning at his country mansion in Neudeck East Prussia.
03.  Friday:
04.  Saturday: Herman Jansen is 43 today.
05.   Sunday: Attended 6 Oclock Mass. Took Ed Fretchel and his family to the cottage. Work the rest of the morning. Took Mary Ann and Thres to the cemetery in the afternoon.
06.  Monday: 8/6 Joe Hemmer, Baier, Zug Neubauer, and Ed Fretchel out to the cottage to build some horses.  We stay till 9.30 P.M.  8/5 Dan Russo’s Band is at Waverly Beach and Cork Weisheipl comes home from there for a vacation.
07.  Tuesday: The Weisheipl’s move out to our cottage.
08.   Wednesday:
09.  Thursday: President Roosevelt is visiting Wisconsin today. His party stops at Green Bay for three hours in honor of the Wisconsin Tercentenary. His train passes thru Oshkosh at 12:20 P.M. It is an extremely warm day with the humidity very high.
10.  Friday: Attended St. Peter’s Church at 9 this morning where final rites are held for Bob Lyman who passed away in California.
11.  Saturday: Well I’m a sick lady today.  Had to come home from work and was laid up all day.
12.  Sunday: Attended six oclock mass this morning.  Then to work for and all days session, and also the entire evening.
13.  Monday: This is Marion Weisheipl’s birthday. She is    .  It is also the wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Matt Baier.  I think they are married 34 years.  Joe Weisheipl Jr. does not forgot them on his broadcast.
14.  Tuesday:
15.  Wednesday: Took the folks and Anna Weisheipl family out to the cottage. Donald caught seven fish and what a proud young man he is. Bill and Emma Siewert come out for the evening. Had a game of six handed sheephead.
16.  Thursday: Got up with a headache this morning.  Donald woke us up 3 times during the night.  But he’s OK this morning.  I think his fishing trip and good luck affected him.

22.  Wednesday: Joe Weisheipl Junior has a birthday. He is 27 and plays a piece for himself over the radio. We take the Fretchels out to the cottage today. It is an ideal day. E.C. Crawford, Secretary of Oshkosh Overall is very ill.
23.  Thursday: E. C. Crawford Secretary of the Oshkosh Overall Company passed away this morning at 11 Oclock at his home 20 Franklin Ave.  Born Jan. 26 – 1872 at Carthage Illinois.  He was formerly connected with “The Morgan Company.”
