01. Sunday:
Mixed choir is on this morning. Took Ed
Fretchel to the cottage to do some work.
Took Mary and Mrs. to the cemetery in the afternoon. In the evening Heip and Anna were over Ford
game of sheephead. Worked most the day
and got all the books squared for September.
02. Monday:
Fred Schlintz dropped in tonite for short visit. American Legion Convention is on at Chicago. President Roosevelt is here and talks to the Veterans. Solomon Rhoades, Centenarian at St. Mary’s
Hospital passed away last night at 11 Oclock.
On December 13th next he would have been 101 years of age.
03. Tuesday: Plenty of work this morning. Off two
Trend Service Meeting this noon. Took
along with Mary Mauritz to see Monica.
She is not teaching at Holy Cross School 5522 Blue Mound Road Milwaukee. Our meeting lasted until 5 P.M. Had a few beers at George Karsten’s on
Greenfield then back to Holy Cross, visited with Sister Melora met her Sister
Superior, then home, arrived back at 8 P.M.
04. Wednesday:
Mrs. Miller and Thres are of collecting for the Bazaar. Heard some news this morning. Niece Agnes Drexler is to be married to Harry
Kujawa on Oct. 16th. Fine, I
wish them lots of luck.
05. Thursday:
More Bowling tonite 105 – 95 – 139, not so good. Thres has a bad nite, no sleep and a bad
headache.
06. Friday: Forty
Hours begins at St. Vincent’s today.
Took a drive this afternoon. It looks
as thou it might rain.
07. Saturday:
This turns out to be a day of rain. Art
Coffey’s wife Florence passed away this afternoon at 5 Oclock. She was born January 24 – 1893 and was
married to Art September 22 – 1923. She
was a classmate of mine at the Park School, her maiden name was Florence Susan Gunz. Her Sister Frances is now Mrs. Wm. E. McMahon.
08. Sunday: Another
day of rain. Margaret Voelz is off for
the Chicago Fair. Forty hours ends at St.
Vincent’s Father Victor Kandy is the speaker this evening. Joe and Anna Heip are at Kaukauna this
afternoon and to our house tonite, Annie still plays a good game of sheephead? 36 in 60 hands.
09. Monday: A
cool dark morning. Eddie Lange (Eli Lilly)
is in town today. Attended meeting at
City Hall tonight. Object to form a
County Construction Committee. Capt. J.
D. Smedberg, Retired U. S. Army Officer explains the setup for a committee to
create jobs.
10. Tuesday:
Attended “Mardi Gras” at Berlin tonite.
Many Oshkosh people are there and all have a good time. They had a very nice parade and some very
good free acts. Dropped in to see Fred
Marquart. Mrs. A. J. Coffey laid to rest
this morning.
11. Wednesday: Surprise party here tonite for
Agnes Drexler. The Cousins and Aunts are
here. She receives a number of pretty gifts.
12. Thursday:
“Landing Day” is now a State Holiday.
Bowling again tonite, I have a sore hip and the bowling showed it 95 –
97 – 106. After the Boland took a drive
with Art Nelson to Neenah and Menasha.
Visited Fred Bill Hahl, “The Owl Tavern” a Greek Joint and Mike Dombroski
at Menasha. Met Officer George Resch, no
relative to the Resch’s here. We arrived
home at 2.30 A. M. Joe Heip slept all
the way home.
13. Friday: Out to see Mr. Kubasta for the truss fitting.
I feel punk behalf to make a trip to Milwaukee. Took along Mrs. and Anna Heip. Took a large package to Sister Melora and I
hope she likes it. I even took a short
nap on the way down. Back about 9 P.M. and
I am very tired.

15. Sunday:
Overslept this morning, had to attend 10.30 Mass. Worked from 8 Oclock, the rest of the morning
and part of the afternoon and evening.
Took in the Oshkosh Vaudeville and Movie. The Picture “The Iron Master” with Reginald
Denny and Lila Lee was very good. The
Heips are over the latter part of the evening.
Art Mueller and Margaret drive to Milwaukee.
16. Monday:
Rain this morning. Harry Kujawa and
Agnes Drexler are married this morning at St. Vincent’s. We all had a good time of the house. Met Harry’s Dad and Mother and sisters and
Brothers, Mike and Lil Urso from Chicago.
Joe and Myrtle Genal were there also with lots of songs, and a big beer appetite. Bernice Nowacki is operated for appendicitis
this morning.

Art Mueller gets back tonite after a 4 day vacation.

Attended St. John’s chicken supper this afternoon.

7.30 Mass, took Ed Fretchel to cottage, some work, dinner, took some things to St.
Vincent’s Bazaar which opens today. Out
to see Heip and Joe Drexler, listen to Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears Foot
Ball Game. The Packers are leading 7 to 0
till the last 5 minutes of play they are beaten 10 – 7. Visit john Drexler then bought Ed and Carl
back, supper with Heip at our house, then to the Oshkosh for a good vaudeville
performance, Count Bernie Vici, Joe Besser, Harriett Cruiae, Bobby Henshaw and
a cast of about 50 People. Then back to St.
Vincent’s Bazaar. I won nothing.
23. Monday: Drove to Green Bay to Hotel Beaumont
with Mr. Mueller and Otto Mierswa.
District Meeting of the Wisc Pharmacal Association. Oscar Rennebohm is there. Dr. Gleason “Manitowoc” spoke. Met William Pflueger, hadn’t seen him for
nearly 3 years. It was very bad driving
up and back. It’s known almost
constantly. Had a card from the
newlyweds Harry and Agnes. They are at St.
Louis.
24. Tuesday:
Sister in law Mary Drexler has a birthday, she is 60 years of age and should be
good for 30 more. Brought Bernice
Nowacki home from the hospital. Visited
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pollock Senior this morning.

Mass and I have a cold, and John Jungwirth is not there, too bad for me, but I
get thru the solos all right. The day is
beautiful and warm. Took Ed out to the
cottage then to work, until 2 P.M, then a drive to Black Creek and New London,
back to work at six, then back to the cottage for Ed, then out to Sacred Heart
Play “Guilded Youth.” It was well rendered, then to Joe Heips for some
sheephead and then home and the day is done.
30. Monday:
Temperatures up to 74° OH Boy this is Indian Summer.
31. Tuesday:
Milk cap strike is supposed to be in a fact that there is little sentiment for
it in Winnebago County. Attended county
Home Construction Executive Meeting at City Hall then to the big Nyal Gathering
at the Athearn Hotel, 25 attended in all.
Ralph Hayes and Mr. Gillson are here from Detroit. After the meet out to “The Dells” got home at
4 A.M. but I feel fine.
