01. Friday:
Took Sister Ambrosia and Sister Florence and Rose Miller to Notre dame Convent
at Milwaukee. Had a visit with Frank McCarthy
at the Druggist Service Bureau, also looked up Joe Nigl. Found him at the Schwind Hardware Store at
2926 Forest Home Ave. Hadn’t seen Joe
for several years.
02. Saturday:
We’re back to cloudy weather, had a heavy rain during the afternoon and
continuous thru the evening. Business
suffered some bowl we hope to make up later on.

Well today is our big Congressional District Meeting at Fond du Lac. I have the honor of Presiding at the meeting. Hon. M
K Riley is the speaker of the evening.
Had over 50 druggists and Salesman present.

Church this morning at 7 A.M.
09. Saturday:
Had our first taste of Christmas shopping today. We are fairly busy at the stores. Had quite a shock this afternoon. Thres fell down and broke her arm at the
elbow, about 4.15. Had to take over the
hospital the for X-Ray pictures. Dr. H
W. Kleinschmidt is taking care of her.
10. Sunday: I
have plenty of work no, beat janitor, nurse, feed the cat, and the birds and my
own work besides. But we’ll have to
manage somehow. Attended 10.30 Mass. Worked all afternoon and part of the evening. Joe Heip and Anna, and at night. Took Anna and Mary to St. Vincent’s Keno. Joe and I spend a quiet evening with the few
high balls. Her the male choir had a
break down this morning at 7.30.

Mary Schneider and Theresa Polier are here on sick committee visit.
14. Thursday:
And other bad day for driving. Did some bowling
tonite and how 91 – 121-134. Had a months
rest but did not improve any. Mrs. Richard Doman is over for a visit tonite.
15. Friday: Attended the funeral of Mrs. Amelia Palecek
this morning. Took a drive this
afternoon, the wind is raw and sharp.

Not feeling so good today, feels like a cold coming on.

I’ve got a nice cold and started. Otto Rath
passed away this morning at 11.40 at his home 804 –15th St.. Born Sept. 29 – 1867 in Milwaukee. He was yard master here for the Soo Line,
working for them for 43 years. He was He
was Orville Rath’s dad.
21. Thursday:
Emma Siewert Clara Miller and Little Billy Siewert are here today. Billy would Tommy to play with. Joe Baier gets his car back from the garage
this afternoon.
22. Friday: Wow! I took a nasty fall back of the Post Office
this morning. Knocked me dizzy for a
minute. Hurt of my right elbow, my hip
and my right year, and my cold is not so good either.
23. Saturday:
The last real shopping day before Christmas.
It is a busy one. It begins to
drizzle about 5 P.M .and makes walking and riding bad. John Spanbauer 5th St. Passed away this afternoon. Born in Austria October 12 and – 1856. He was father to Jim – John – Joe and Frank
Spanbauer, Father-in-law to Frank Fenzl.
Might Kellermann 1043 – 10th 78, a good friend of mothers
passed away this morning at 7.45. Born
in Bavaria July 15 – 1855. The last time
I saw him was when he was here to view the remains of mother, July 2nd.
24. Sunday: We
are very busy at the store today. The
roads are a very slippery and many accidents occur.
25. Monday:
Attended midnight Mass but could not saying much, I am very hoarse, its 11°
below zero when I get home from church, and it’s 15° below when we get up. I worked most of the day. Heip and Anna are over in the evening. Cork and Joe Jr. drop in about 10.30 P.M.
26. Tuesday:
My cold is worse, and its 12° below zero.
Attended funeral of Mr. John Spanbauer.
27. Wednesday:
Took a half day off this morning trying to get over my cold. 17° below zero this morning at 7 Oclock. Fred Cowling 623 – 10th had a
close call this morning, being overcome by carbon monoxide gas in his garage. Dropped in to see Grandma Baier this
afternoon. She seems to have lost quite
a bit of weight.

29. Friday: Our
janitor at the store is not so well this morning. He staid home this noon.
30. Saturday:
Took Rose Drexler over this morning to the C.W.A. to try to get work for her.
31. Sunday: I’m
staying and today, trying to get over my cold.
