March 13

1942: "The 'All-Stars' are recuperating from the strain of their championship game. Thres, Annie Heip and Thres Fretschel played Bingo at the Eagles last night. Thres needed one number to win 50 dollars, but the number was not forthcoming. We lost our 'Dickie Bird' tonite. He has been looking rather sickly all day. Well he got to be about 15 years old." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1947: "Governor Walter Goodland passed away suddenly last night at 10:15. Had a heart attack while preparing to go to bed. Must have been winding his watch at the time. It was found lying on the floor. Oscar Rennebohm was sworn in today as Governor." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
