March 8

1942: "At 12:40 A.M. I have a call from Henry Kieckhafer telling me someone had broken into our Oregon St. store. After investigating I find that both cash registers had been rifled, one of about 35 dollars, the other about 5 dollars. No merchandise seems to be taken. Well, we're lucky. The safe has not been touched.  I get to bed at 2:30 this morning. Well, up again at 5:15, shave, and attend 6 o'clock Mass at St. John's." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1953: "To 7:30 Mass with Holy Name Society. Then to work. This afternoon we attend opening if the new Winnebago County Hospital a 2,300,000 dollar job. It is modern in every detail. It can accommodate 300 patients. We then stop to visit Joe and Annie Weisheipl. Don and Arlene attend the marriage course. I'm back at the store to make out orders. Harry and Agnes Kujawa drop in about 9 o'clock for a short visit. Georgi M. Malenkov, 51 years old tank and plane production expert succeeds Joseph Stalin."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1955: "...Father and sons banquet at K.C. this evening, ages 2-14. Don (son) and I took Donnie Jr., quite an event for him. Eddie Weisheipl brought Bobbie and Tommy." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
