1939: "Mama Potter's second attempt at St. Vincent's Christian Mothers Society as President. A big card party is planned for the latter part of April. Great Britain and France have given the victorious Franco government in Spain formal recognition. This unofficially ends the civil war in Spain which began July 18, 1936." [from A. E. 1956: "To Kiwanis luncheon, it is sports day; we have the athletic teachers such as John Nevers, Ronnie Nord, also the Hi School Basketball seniors and juniors from the new Webster Stanley who are presented with the sportsmanship trophy by Jim Bruins. Attended evening service and served as Honor Guard with the 4th Degree. Ted Bouchette was our leader. Father Ivan spoke on "Deep Humility" and thus ended another 40 Hours Devotion." [from A. E.
