1933: "Larry Laurence announces over W.T.M.J. that we have only until April 7th to practice deep breathing to blow the foam off the good old lager - Beer. Frank Jensen lost his wife Lydia this morning. She passed away at Mercy Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1891. Married to Frank Dec, 1912. She was a sister to Mrs. Richard Doman, Clara." [from A. E. 1934: "Paid my taxes this morning and it cost me 2% penalty for not paying it by March 1st. Took Karl Binder's wife, Joe Hemmer, and Joe Baier out to Sunnyview to visit Karl. He is a little hoarse and gets a 3 weeks period of silence. Joe and Joe stop in at our house for 60 hands of sheephead," [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1943: "To Kiwanis luncheon. Miss Kane, M.D. and psychiatrist with the State Board of Health is the speaker. Our table Dave Collin Ed Ladvina, Dave Johnson, Ray Baxandall. Food markets are getting enormous business in meats and cheese today. Meat rationing begins on the 29th. Had a letter from Donald (son) today. His locker is empty." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
