May 1

1933: "Father Bastian is over early this morning to bring communion to mother. This is a cold rainy day. Attended American Legion Stag Party after work tonite. They had 392 paid admissions and served small beers for a dime." [Blogger's note: I believe he is referring to his adoptive mother who was Katherine Jarosch and later Katherine Holzbauer.  This is one of the confusing aspects of A.E. Potter's childhood that I'm currently researching.] [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1934: "Joe Weisheipl Sr. is 50 years old today. We drop in to see him about 10 P.M. and his folks are having a surprise party on him. Well Joe sure was surprised and enjoyed it immensely. Well we get home at 1 A.M." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1946: "Peter Reifer (Carl's Dad) is 89 years old today. Joe Weisheipl also is a birthday child today; he is 62. Took Ed Fretschl to the cottage to spray the fruit trees. Ed Hielsberg begins painting Dr. Ray Wagner's office rooms. Norm Brown and Ray Trovinger are in for drug orders today. Hair cuts are up to 75¢ in Oshkosh, a raise of 25¢." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
