May 12

1940: "Attended 9 o'clock Mass today, then to work. In the afternoon took a drive to Riverside Cemetery, also to the cottage. Worked from 5 to 6. In the evening attended Sacred Heart Bazaar. Thres won a pound of coffee. I won a bed sheet. Mrs. Will Esser across from us won 5# sugar. Visited Grandma Baier this afternoon. She is down in bed with bronchial trouble." [from A. E. 1949: "Father Wagner took me for a trip to Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Kohler. Looked over Frank Straub's Drug Store, Met Mr. Lanhardt his Rx clerk. Frank has a nice store. At Sheboygan stopped to see Father's sister, Mrs. Herr and at Kohler his sister, Mrs. Behring. This evening dinner meeting at Athearn, all Catholic parishes represented. Bishop Bona is here also. Discussion of the practibility of a Catholic Hi School. After the meeting Father Wagner, Joe Hemmer, Louis Koelbl stop at the house for sheephead; I lose. Emma Siewert and Thres are at the cottage this afternoon. Emm stays with us overnite." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1951: "Weather is cold. We are fairly busy at the store selling cut flowers and plants for Mother's Day. Thres and self visit Aunt Mary tonite at the hospital. Mrs. Ernie Klinger is a new patient in her room. Mrs. Whiting had a stroke this week and seems unable to recognize us. Rose Weisheipl spends the day in Milwaukee."  [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
