1933: "Today is the 80th anniversary of the founding of the First Wisconsin National Bank of Milwaukee in 1853. It was organized as the Farmers and Millers Bank. Another tornado in Louisiana took 54 lives yesterday." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1936: "Ann Mauritz died suddenly this morning on the way to Mercy Hospital. She took a sponge bath early this morning. About 8 o'clock she became very ill; a physician was called. When he came she had rallied; he advised taking her to the hospital, and on the way, she passed away.Born March 5, 1906. Sure a shock to all of us." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
1937: "St. Vincent's Congregation celebrates Father Bastian's 25 year stay in Oshkosh by tendering him a banquet. All of his former assistants are here except Louis Schorn. It was a great event for Father Bastian. A pageant depicting his life during his 25 years pastoral here was given by the school children. Attended 6 o'clock Mass this morning then worked all day until 6 P.M." [from A. E. Potter's diaries]
