01.   Monday:

04.  Thursday:
05.  Friday: Ed Fretchel is laid up with an infection in his hand.  Took Leona and Rose Drexler to Mercy Hospital tonite.  Leo is going to stay for an operation.
06.  Saturday: Well I have a swell job today.  Cleaned the basement at the store.  The aisles were so cluttered with merchandise we had quite a time getting thru.  Leona Drexler is operated for appendicitis this morning at 8 Oclock.  Drs. Combs and Kleinschmidt performed the operation.
07.  Sunday: Attended six Oclock mass, one can noticed a marked increase in attendance since the days are getting longer.  Visited Leona this afternoon, she had a bad night.  Took the children over to the Baiers for a visit.  The Baiers home is all torn up.  Getting ready for a new dress, that is a paper one.
08.  Monday: Over to visit Leona tonite and also to bring her mother home.  She had been staying with her at the hospital.  Learned that Herb Mathwig is in the hospital.  After all little scouting I found him but a few doors from Leona’s Room.  He has been there 19 days and expects to go home tomorrow.
09.  Tuesday: Am invited over to Anton Serwas for a little game of cards.  Father Keller –Joe Weisheipl Sr.  and Jr.  –Paul Kelly –Aloys Kinateder, Tony and myself comprise the party.  Well Tony are sure wonderful host and not only that, I walked away with 3.50 of the boys money.  Visited Leona again at the Hospital.  Took Annie Heip and Mary Schneider along.
10.   Wednesday: Mary Anne had a close call crossing Oregon Street this afternoon, and I got quite a scare.  Took the Siewerts and Gliddens over for farewell look at Wm. Sawall who passed away suddenly last Monday.  Bill and I dropped in to see Mr. Freiburg at the Konrad Funeral Home.  We end up at Gliddens for a game of cards.  Well I really worked until 10.30 before I could go there.
11.  Thursday: We have a sale beginning today, but are rained all day so it was not much of a success.

13.  Saturday:
14.  Sunday (Palm): A beautiful and warm day.  Temperature about 65°.  Attended six oclock mass then to work.  In the afternoon visited Leona in the Hospital.  Took the children along.  Then out to our cottage.  Our first visit out there this year.  We find things in fine shape.  No damage and little dust.  Back to work in the evening.  The day ends with the bad blizzard.  Most of the streetl ights on the south side are out of commission.
15.  Monday: Had a very thorough examination by Dr. Combs today.  It took about an hour.  Well I passed a very favorable test.  This is the most thorough exam I’ve ever had.  Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Nostrils, Heart – Kidneys all OK.  Took Leona Drexler home from the hospital this afternoon.  She is quite weak, but well enough to be home.  The temperature has dropped between 45 and 50 degrees since yesterday.
16.  Tuesday: Another drive to Milwaukee to get merchandise for our week end sale.  Left at 3 P.M. back at 755.
17.  Wednesday:
18.  Thursday: “Famous Brands Sale” begins today.  Well I hope it will be a success.  We need the money.
19.  Friday:
20.   Saturday: A fairly nice day today.  At least we’re all pretty thirsty this afternoon.  And I also have a spell of spring fever.
21.  Sunday: Easter Sunday.  Turns out to be lovely day.  Attended six oclock mass, then to work for the rest of the day with the exception of 2 hours from 3 to 5 in the afternoon.  Took the children visiting to Anne Drexler’s, Matt Baier’s and Joe Weisheipl’s.
22.  Monday: Turns suddenly cold today.
23.  Tuesday: Henry Kieckhafer, officer of the Oregon Street Beat was injured tonite while directing traffic on the corner of Ninth and Oregon Streets for Fire Apparatus.  Carl Plonsky hit him.  Henry was cut over his right eye and his left knee badly bruised.

25.  Thursday: A Beautiful day.  Larry Gerdes is in town.

27.  Saturday:
28.   Sunday: Attended six oclock mass, took Ed and Karl Fretchel to the cottage to do some work.  It is rather cold out.  Visited Anna Drexler in the afternoon.  Harry and Agnes are here from Berlin.  Agnes is feeling better.  After work it night, played Keeno at Sacred Heart.  I won 5# Sugar 1# Coffee, Thres won nothing.  Took Heip and Anna out for a few beers after the Keeno Party.
29.  Monday: Our driver Harvey Plashko is married today at Sheboygan.
30.  Tuesday: Carl Radomsky is in town.  Met Margaret and Carl at the Strand Theatre.  Took in the Show “Go into your dance” featuring Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler his wife.  Had a few cocktails at the Silver Grill after the show.  Art Wolf is doing a nice business there.  Minnie Pravitz passed away today.  She had been sick a week with pneumonia.  Born at Schusterport Wisc. Jan. 23 – 1865.  She used to work with my father years ago in the tailoring business
