Diary of Alfred E. Potter August, 1936

02.  Sunday: St. Vincent's Picnic today. Attended this afternoon. The children enjoy it very much. Donald hated to go home.

04.  Tuesday: Marion Weisheipl and Mary Berndt our guest of the cottage for the week.
05.  Wednesday: Took a trip to Milwaukee with F. W. Mueller.  Visited United Drug Holiday Display at the Schroeder.  Wm Webbles in Waldo Reichardt are there.  Then to McClurgs Display in the Meyer Bldg.  Ray Grace is in charge.  Bought quite a number of holiday items.

07.  Friday: Marion and Joan Drexler our guests at the cottage today and tomorrow.
08.  Saturday: Back to town this afternoon.  Visited Matt Baiers this evening.
09.  Sunday: Holy Name Sunday.  Had rain this afternoon the first in a number of weeks.  The temperature rose to 100° in the shade this afternoon.  Practiced in church for the Silver Anniversary, this afternoon.

11.  Tuesday: This is a big day for the Potter Family. We celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Thanksgiving Hi Mass at 8 A.M. at St. Vincent's. Open House afternoon. Dinner at 6 P.M. Father John Nuernberg and Ann came from Wautoma, Mr. F.W. Mueller and Mrs., Matt and Mrs. Mertz, Sisters and Brother John and their families. Music from 830 P.M. to 4 A.M. and it was a good time for everybody.

13.  Thursday: Marion Weisheipl has a birthday.  She is sweet sixteen.  (16) Matt and Lena Baier wedding anniversary. They are married 35 years.

16.  Sunday: Geo. Weisheipl is 27 today.  To 730 Mass this morning then to work.

18.  Tuesday: Edward Weisheipl takes the children to the cottage.
19.  Wednesday: The “Keno Club” has their annual outing of the cottage.  Mrs. John Drexler –Mrs. John Kellerman –Mrs. Charles Frank –Mrs. Rose Miller –Mrs. Richard Andrashko –Mrs. Wenzel Putzer – Mrs. Joe Weisheipl are members.  Mrs. Anton Sipple-Miss Clara Miller were also there.

22.  Saturday: Joe Weisheipl Jr. is 29 today.
23.  Sunday: Well my car is sick this morning. A valve is stuck. Lucky Tad Behlendorf is available. Start for Milwaukee at 11.30 A.M. with the family and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mauritz. Stopped at Nenno for lunch. St. Peter and Paul's have a big church picnic. Arrive in Milwaukee at 2 P.M. to stop at Holy Cross Convent to visit Sister Melora. John Bauer and his family are there also. Met Rev. Behnke and Brother Adolf also.
24.  Monday: Father John Haen drops in for a visit at the store.  Joe Baier and Joe Hemmer spend the afternoon and evening at the cottage.  Joe Hemmer is having a weeks vacation.
25.  Tuesday: We moved back to the cottage.  Had Rose Weisheipl help me with some store work until 10.30 P.M. then we played sheephead until 2.30 A.M.

27.  Thursday: Art Mueller and Margaret move their family from 1118 -12th St. to 329 –So. Park Ave.  Rob Neitzels place.

30.  Sunday: Harry Kujawa and Agnes Karl Radomsky and Margaret Rosland Gittings and rose are here for a visit.  St. Vincent’s Choir spend the day at our cottage.
