Diary of Alfred E. Potter November, 1935

01.  Friday:
02.  Saturday: Santa Claus comes to our house again.  Today he brought an "Iron Fireman Stoker."  Tony Paulick installed it for the Wilson Company.  This will mean a steady fire and an even temperature in our home for the winter.
03.  Sunday: Worked all day today.  Had company after work tonite.  Joe Baier –John Koelbl –Syl Sitter – Joe Hemmer are over.  At 12 midnight they sing a birthday song.  I almost forgot about my birthday.
04.  Monday: I have a birthday am 45 today.  Don’t feel that old.  It is a dark rainy day.  If the old weather prophets sayings are true, we should have much moisture this month.
05.  Tuesday: Sam Ogle and Joe Weisheipl Jr. congratulated me over the Radio today.  Carl Fretchel begins painting store ceiling at South Store today.
06.  Wednesday: Had company tonight.  Joe and Anna Weisheipl –Ed and Theresa Fretchel.  Played 5 handed sheephead.  Emma (Miller) Siewert has a birthday.  She is 49.
07.  Thursday: Attended St. Vincent's Holy Name Party tonite.  Had a very enjoyable time.  Got home at 12.30 A.M. Dancing was in order thru most of the party.  Mary Ann (daughter) gets two days of vacation.  Teachers convention at Milwaukee.

09.  Saturday:
10.  Sunday: Six oclock Mass this morning.  It is not a very pleasant day.  Visited Anna Drexler in the afternoon also the Matt Baier Family with Mary Ann.
11.  Monday: “Armistice day” Banks are closed, also the offices at the City Hall.
12.  Tuesday: Bob Gittings has a birthday.  He is 28 years old today.
13.  Wednesday: This is Ma Potter’s birthday.  She is 49 and we have a little party in her honor tonite.  Joe and Anna Heip Ed and Thres Fretchel are here.  The ladies are in exceptionally good spirits, even Ma Potter.  We played 5 handed Sheephead, I didn’t win a game.

15.  Friday: Carl Radamsky has a birthday, but I don’t know his age.

20.  Wednesday: One ton of coal lasted from Nov. 2nd until tonite with our stoker.

28.  Thursday: The ground is covered with a nice have a coat of snow this morning.  Looks more like Christmas than Thanksgiving day.  I get up late take a bath.  Harry Kujawa and Bob Gittings drop in.  Had a few appetizers.  Harry smoked about 1/8 cigar and was feeling fine.  So was Aunt Mary.  Had a mighty fine dinner even “Tommy” had a place at the table.  Listen to the Green Bay Packer – Chicago Cardinal Football Game.  Packers lose 9 – 7.  Worked in the evening until 8.30 P.M. then to Joe Heips for a little game of sheephead.
29.  Friday: Had a package from Germany today.  Looks like mushrooms.  Dr. Norman Kleinschmidt is sick in bed.  Down with a kidney ailment which he gets periodically.
