Thres and Mary Ann to the Oshkosh tonite.
Two good pictures feature the evening Bob Hope – Dorothy Lamour in “They
got me covered” and James Ellison – Jane Wyatt in “Army Surgeon.”
04. Sunday: To St.
Vincents 730 Mass.
Catholic Knights make their Easter Holy Communion. Father Bastian speaks on the word of Jesus “Lord
why hast thou forsaken Me.” Worked 8 ½ hours today. Joe and Anna Weisheipl are over this evening. Joe brought some very fine perch along for us. After a pleasant visit I took Joe to work at
11.45 and then drove back to take Annie home.
Thres Fretchel has a birthday, she is 56 tomorrow. Com. Camilla Micko

06. Tuesday: [N] Took Dave Collin to Kiwanis
luncheon. Our table Dr. A.C. Gifford, Dave Johnson, John Bangert, Eric
Boller. Received a questionaire from the Office of Naval Officer
Procurement in regard to Stanley Alfred Mauritz. Received Donalds weekly letter
and also his report, he tells me he is getting along better, well, his report
proves that.
07. Wednesday: Almost
route to Milwaukee this morning, the rain kept me home. Attended Chamber of Commerce Directors
luncheon and meeting. Frank V. Lotz is
in with a fair line of prayer books and rosaries. To St. Vincents Church this evening.
08. Thursday: Thres
and self drive to Milwaukee. The roads
are not any too good. Stopped at Mutual
Drug – McClurg – Yahr-Lange Drug.
Visited Margaret and Carl Radomsky Anna and Louie are still there, they
are ready to leave for home. Had a nice
steak, at their place. Karl has done
considerable remodeling, the place looks swell.
Margaret said something about the stork coming but it will be some time
yet. Arrived home about 10.30 then
picked up Anna and Louie at the depot at 11 P.M.
09. Friday: Theresa
Weisheipl was operated on yesterday for cataract in her left eye. It has been coming on for a long time and an
operation was very necessary.
10. Saturday: To the
Oshkosh tonite with Thres and Mary Ann.
11. Sunday:
To 730 Mass at St. Johns with C.O.F. make their Easter Duty. Then to work.
Thres plays Bingo this afternoon at Opera House, takes along Thres
Fretchel Anna Ostertag – Anna Weisheipl.
Ostertag won 400 Fretchel 100. Rain tonite.
Worked 10 ½ hours today.

Archie Gifford –Gil Labudde. Don Bludau
is in town.
14. Wednesday: [T] And
other cool day. Visited Theresa (Mrs.
Fred) Weisheipl at Mercy. She is doing
fine. Tommy Gallagher drops in at the
store, he is home on furlough for about 2 weeks. He is looking thin. Has been confined in hospital for seven weeks. An appendix operation and flabitis set in. Attend St. Vincents Lenten service tonite,
after service Troop Commission meeting Troop 18 in our school library. Present Ed Marheine– Ollie Kinateder – myself
Jos. Hemmer – Scout master Paul Fink.
After the meeting which lasted until 10:00 PM over to Bill and Emma

15. Thursday: [N]…A
pleasant visit ends at 230 this morning. I am a little tired when I go to work. Had another swollen face today, do not know
as CIA at what is causing it. Thres
Fretchel – Thres – Lena Baier –Mary Ilk – Annie Weisheipl played Bingo at St.
Vincents this afternoon. They all
win. Thres Fretchel calls up at 11:00
tonight, she won 14.25 at the Eagles Bingo.
Anna Weisheipl won nothing.
Katherine Weinman is chairman pro tem, of the local chapter American Red
Cross.
16. Friday: Ed
Fretchel brings news this morning that Edward Jr. has an increase in the family
early this morning. A little girl and its
the first baby for Ed and Marion.
17. Saturday: Took Thres and Mary Ann to the Oshkosh tonite. A fine show “Reveille with Beverly” starring
Ann Miller as a broadcaster and dancer, also Bob Crosby and Band – Frank
Sinatra –The Radio Rogues – and Mills Brothers, also “Sherlock Holmes in
Washington” with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.

letter from Donald today stating he may come home for one day for Easter. Must be back Easter Sunday 7 P.M.
22. Thursday: Our
Kiwanis Program Committee has a meeting at Gene Vogel’s office at Haase’s is
preparatory for our ladies night program.

day begins with rain, but turns out very fair and warm this afternoon.
24. Saturday: A lovely
day. Donald blows into town at 12.30
this pm. He may stay until tomorrow
afternoon. Lawrence Ilk has an auto
accident. His car turns over
25. Sunday: To 730
Mass St. Johns, then to work. It rained
this morning. After noon meal visited
Anna – Leona – Romy and then out to Joe Baiers, from there to the Weisheipls
and on the way home at Ed Fretchel’s.
After early supper took Father Bernard –Donald’s Latin Professor,
Clarence Drexler – Melvin Karst – and Stadtmueller and Donald back to St.
Nazianz. On the way back had Brother Gordion’s
father for company. Back at 10.20 P.M. Thres – Mary Ann – Anna Weisheipl attend the
Oshkosh Theatre Laurel and Hardy star in “Air Raid Wardens” Com. Al Stamborski
26. Monday: Carl and
Margaret Radomsky drop in this morning.
There going over to Berlin to visit the Kujawas and Margaret wants to
take a last sleep in her old home at Anna Drexler’s.
27. Tuesday: Attended
Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Our
Congressman Frank Keefe is our speaker.
He urges people not to hoard money and praises Oshkosh and vicinity for
the fine spirit shown in the war effort.
In the evening “Kiwanis” ladies night at Paine Hall, Algoma Methodist
Church. After the eats we are
entertained by the Apollo Male Chorus led by J.A. Breese, and Jim Damon, with
his daughter Sue Carrol –Jakie Dengel – Loretta Dorkoski – Richard Verhoeven,
Appleton and Esther Priebe. Our
Committee Glen Fadner, Frank Thaw, Gene Vogel, Ralph Witherbee and A.E. Potter.
28. Wednesday: Had a
card from Sister Linus, Milwaukee today.
29. Thursday: [N]
President Roosevelt sat next Saturday as deadline for 70000 soft coal miners
who were on the strike to return to work.
The President also returned from a 20 state war inspection tour, covered
7652 miles checking war activities and dropping into Mexico to confer with
President Manuel Avila Camacho.
30. Friday: [N 11]
Anna and Louie and Romy move to Milwaukee today. They waited nearly all day for the dray to
pick them up. Romy help load up. The ladies visited here in the evening. Thres took them to the depot. Train was late supposed to leave at 945
left about 1145 due to break down of the engine about 2 miles
north of the State Hospital. Had a
pleasant surprise at the store this morning.
