Diary of Alfred E. Potter January, 1942

01.  Thursday: After two hours of sleep I attend six oclock Mass at St. Johns, then down to the store to open up for the day.  The New Year is ushered in with a heavy blizzard, in fact, so bad no taxis are running.  Most Amusement Places are closed.  I took off a few hours this afternoon for a little rest.  In the evening had Bob Heideman take Naomi Mueller home and go to the post office for me.  Eddie and Rose Weisheipl are off today.
02.  Friday: [10½M RNXMOK] The snow plows have been working all night, trying to clear the roads of snow, and they have done a fair job.  It is getting colder and by tonite when I get home it is 10° below zero.  Took Mary Ann to visit with Joan and Billy Mauritz.  Dropped in to C. Raymond and Jimmie Ostertag’s Christmas Presents.  Tonite’s official temperature minimum is 2° below.
