clear day, and not called. To Kiwanis
luncheon. Irving Schwerke spoke on
artists in music, whom he had met during the years he traveled in Europe. This afternoon near Cork and Brown’s office Marion
Street my Plymouth speedometer registers 44444.4 miles. Helen Reimer is slowly losing ground at Mercy
Hospital.
03. Wednesday: [6M]
Another day of soft weather, in fact it rains toward evening. This morning at 940 Mrs. Lavina
Hauert passed away at Mercy Hospital.
She had been ill for a long time.
Born at Elm Grove June 4 – 1862, married to Geo. Hauert March 12th
1883 in the town of Omro. Mr. passed
away Aug 7 – 1924. Mr. and Mrs. Hauert
were our landlords when we lived at 720 South Park Ave. Art Mueller has a birthday, he is 41.
04. Thursday: [4M] Mary Ann is home from school today. She has a cold. St. Johns have their annual party. I was not there but I won five dollars.

Friday, to St. Vincent’s at 7 Oclock.

More snow, we are having snow every other day.
Aunt Mary has a cold. Tonite we
view the remains of Mrs. Hauert at the Marquart funeral home. We then visit Anna Drexler and Leona. Have not visited them for some time.

Mass at St. Johns. Ed Baranowski
presents me with the five dollars I won the other night. Was pallbearer for Mrs. Hauert this afternoon,
others Ed Baranowski –Fred Birr – Matt Bongert, Paul Procknow and H.
Radtke. Laid to rest at Ellenwood Cemetery. Aunt Mary’s cold is worse today, she could
not attend Mass. Aunt Lena visits with
us for short time this afternoon. Com.

08. Monday: We have
company tonight. Joe – Emma – Lena Baier
and Annie Weisheipl. We play 5 and 6
handed sheephead. Party breaks up at
12.30 A.M.
09. Tuesday: [N T] To
Kiwanis luncheon. Dave Collin takes me
over. Ernie Schmidt has some of his boy
scouts at our meeting. Had letter from
Donald today, also his report for the first semester. Well, it is very good in some things and very
pour in others. Wrote to him tonite and
also sent him some presents for his birthday.
Also sent Teddy Gittings some presents for his birthday. Anna Drexler and Leona are over tonite. Anna has some sewing for Thres.
10. Wednesday: To
Chamber of Commerce Directors meeting at the Athearn. It rained quite a bit during the nite and it
also thundered.
11. Thursday:
Temperature is down to 6° below this morning.
Captain Al Stamborski resigns from the police department due to ill
health. Appointed to the police
department May 1-1913. Promoted to
Captain April 1-1939 under Chief Wm Golz. J.B. Cudlip, Secretary of our Chamber of
Commerce is at Mercy Hospital for treatment.
His condition is reported a favorable.
Donald has a birthday, he is 15 years of age. Hope he is enjoying it.

Temperature 1° below this morning. Mary
Ann has an overnight guest tonight, Rosemary Koelbl. Teddy Gittings has his birthday today, he is
seven.
13. Saturday: Took
Thres to the Strand tonite, we surely got a lot for our money. Two long pictures, 3 colored short pictures
and news. Feature “Journey for Margaret”
Robert Young –Lorraine Day –Fay Bainter and Little Margaret O’Brien also “Northwest
Rangers” with James Craig – Patricia Dane –William Lundigan –John Carradine.
14. Sunday: To St. Johns
at 730 then to work.
Valentine’s day is a cold day, temperature is 12° below. It is a busy day at the store. Worked ten hours got thru at 11.45 P.M. Dr. and Mrs. Brictson are in town, visiting
at Art Muellers.

Temperature is 11° below this morning.
Had a letter from Rose Gittings, Teddy has chickenpox. Mr. G.F. Doepping is at Mercy Hospital. He had what might be turned “diabetic coma”
last night at his home. Dr. Kronzer attended
him. Mrs. Minnie Mueller is at Mercy
Hospital, her gall bladder was drained this afternoon. Drs. Cornell and Ray Wagner attended her.
16. Tuesday: [4M T] To
Kiwanis luncheon with Dave Collin. Had a
baby Kiwanian at our table John Bangert with Pipkorn Company. It is still quite cold.
17. Wednesday: Took
the 825 train to Milwaukee.
Jam Green with Smith Ice Cream Co. on same train. Spent 3 hours at Mutual Drug buying, then 2 ½
hours at McClurg’s, 1 hour at Bertrams Novelty, then a big dinner at Fritz
Gust, then a long walk, and then the 845 train for home, and
home at 1130 P.M.
Weather was somewhat warmer today.

beautiful day and warm.

More nice warm weather and I have a nice cold, I mean a bad cold. Lou Howser is in today, he’s back on the road
for Wm R. Warner. Tony
Polplatz died suddenly this afternoon about 3 Oclock, while working at the
Schmidt Sausage Company.
21. Sunday:
To 730 Mass at St. John's, then to work. St. Vincents basketball team to St.
Nazianz to play the Salvatorian Freshman team. Our Donald plays with St.
Nazianz. St. Vincent's loses 36-25. This evening we took Ed and Thres Fretchel
to the Strand, “Seven Days Leave” starring Victor Mature, Lucille Ball, also
showing “Truth or Consequences and Court of Missing Heirs,” also new Comedy
Star “Marcy McGuire.” It's a lot of fun.

Edward Paulick 741 – 11th gets a nice paycheck today from Bill
Machine Works 3760.
24. Wednesday: Served
as honorary pallbearer at the Tony Polplatz funeral. He is laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial
Cemetery.

Temperature is down to 2° below this morning.
26. Friday: [N] Ernie
Clark was in to see me at the store this morning. He is to leave next Thursday with a number of
draftees. He was Leona Drexler’s boy
friend for about four years. He is now
happily married to Lucille Engbretson.
27. Saturday: Attended
Oshkosh Theatre with Thres and Mary Ann.
Two good pictures are on. “One
Johnny comes marching home” Alan Jones –Jane Frazee, -Gloria Jean – Donald O’Connor
Peggy Ryan and Spitalny’s All Girl Orchestra star in this picture. “Pittsburgh” is also very good with Marlene
Diettrich – Randolph Scott –John Wayne starring
